Where does voguing come from, and what, exactly, is throwing shade?

“Paris is Burning” is an intimate documentary about New York’s black and latine drag ball scene in the 80s, profiling rival fashion “houses”, legendary drag mothers, and a changing landscape for q***r and trans people.
It is a poignant, funny, and heartbreaking exploration of q***r identity and empowerment in America.

We’ll be screening this film as our June 2026 edition of Lens On Life, followed by a conversation with q***r leaders, about the history of ballroom, drag, and the trans and q***r experience in America.

Happy Philippine Independence Day! 🇵🇭

We had the honor of joining pwsc Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles aboard their Jeepney Food Crawl in celebration of Filipino Food Month!

The Jeepney and tricycle are not only beloved modes of transportation in the Philippines but a symbol of resourcefulness, and ingenuity. These vehicles were relics of WWII, left behind as scrap metal transformed by the Filipino people to be used as a way to make money & provide transportation through narrow alleyways and ever changing terrain. Taking the scraps of the war and breathing life into them by embellishing and decorating to reflect their culture. Truly embodying the resilience and creativity of the Filipino people.

We’ve expanded our district interim housing capacity by 25% since taking office because we will never solve our homelessness crisis without the housing & services our unhoused residents need.

The Sierra Vista Interim Housing project will allow Angelenos the safety a home provides, a community to assist them on their new journey and some much needed relief.
