Agriculture at Alcorn State University is very broad and comprehensive, yet we are focused in our programs and research projects. We work with and support a largely under-served region of the state of Mississippi including small-and-limited-resource farmers, and we do so very effectively, and efficiently. It is our intent to leverage every appropriated dollar, to maximize our economic and personal impact on Mississippians.

What a great day at the Vicksburg Farmers Market (US 61S at the Airport)!

Thank you to everyone who came out on Wednesday to support local farmers, vendors, and healthy living. With each market, we continue to see new faces, familiar faces returning, and growing community support. Seeing people come back week after week reminds us that this effort is making a difference, and we are grateful to be part of it.

The word is spreading, the market continues to grow, and we are excited about what lies ahead. We are honored to serve the Vicksburg community through this partnership and look forward to expanding our impact in the months to come.

In the meantime, enjoy these highlights from this week's market. We can't wait to see everyone again on June 17, 2026!

Their time in Cameroon came to a close with one final day of learning and engagement at UB. Faculty and students from ASU and AAMU toured the fishery laboratory, visited the experiment station and learned more about the innovative research, teaching and hands-on experiences shaping agriculture in Cameroon.

The group also met with the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine before gathering with university leadership for a final photo, marking the conclusion of a week filled with discovery, cultural exchange and meaningful collaboration.

As the delegation prepares to return home, they do so with new knowledge, new partnerships and memories that will last a lifetime.

Thank you, UB, for an unforgettable experience.

Day 4 in Cameroon πŸ‡¨πŸ‡²

Today was filled with hands-on learning and meaningful collaboration as faculty and students from ASU and AAMU explored agricultural production systems at UB. From plant nurseries and vegetable production sites to research plots and field demonstrations, participants gained firsthand insight into agricultural practices, innovation and student-led learning opportunities in Cameroon.

The delegation also met with UB leadership, including the Vice Chancellor and Registrar, to discuss opportunities for continued collaboration in teaching, research and experiential learning.

Day 3 in Cameroon was filled with exploration, learning, and cultural immersion.

Today, our students and faculty explored Mount Cameroon National Park, taking in breathtaking views while learning about the region's rich biodiversity, natural resources, and conservation efforts. The experience provided valuable insight into the relationship between people, agriculture, and the environment in one of Africa's most ecologically diverse regions.

The group also had the opportunity to experience authentic Cameroonian cuisine, including a traditional meal of rice, goat meat, and butter leaf ndolΓ© vegetables. Sharing local foods offered another meaningful way to learn about the country's culture and traditions.

Every day brings new opportunities to learn, connect, and experience Cameroon beyond the classroom.
