Today marks 988 Day, a national day of awareness and action to promote the 988 Su***de and Crisis Lifeline, a vital resource that connects Ohioans experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis with free, confidential support 24/7.

International Overdose Awareness Day is TODAY, August 31. In partnership with the Lorain County Opioid Action Team (LCOAT), 59 yard signs and 4,543 purple flags have been distributed throughout Lorain County to remember the 77 lives lost to drug overdose in 2025.

The signs and flags serve as a visible reminder of the lives lost and the lasting impact overdose has on individuals, families, and our entire community. They also help raise awareness about prevention, treatment, recovery, and the importance of supporting those affected by substance use.
