Sidewalk improvements near Helen Steiner Rice Elementary and Southview Middle School are moving right along!

Last week, crews finished sidewalks on Camden, Tacoma, and Andover — and tree lawn restoration is now underway. Work also kicked off on Palm Ave and Goble Ave.

This week, crews will continue on Palm Ave and Goble Ave before shifting to Fairless Dr. Stay tuned for more updates!

🚧 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗹𝘃𝗱. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲! 🚧

This week the inside eastbound lane pavement was removed.

Next week pavement replacement will begin in the interior eastbound lane.

Please note that Tower Blvd eastbound will be closed to through traffic until September. The official detour will be via Meister Road. Keep an eye out for posted signs to guide you!

More signs were added this week in the field to further assist residents on getting around the construction.

Union Pacific, in partnership with Norfolk Southern, is setting Big Boy #4014 on its transcontinental coast-to-coast tour, to celebrate the United States of America’s 250th anniversary. On Monday, June 8, 2026, 𝗕𝗶𝗴 𝗕𝗼𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗶𝗻 𝗟𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝘁 𝗪. 𝟭𝟭𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗶𝗱 𝗔𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝟭𝟭:𝟭𝟱 𝗮.𝗺. 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝟭𝟭:𝟯𝟬 𝗮.𝗺.

The city has both on-street parking and city parking lots nearby.

To ensure the safety of all, please keep the following in mind:
· 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗮𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟱 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝘁 from all railroad tracks. This includes drones and animals.
· 𝗔𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗮 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻, do not assume any tracks are inactive.
· Please be a safe and considerate driver – 𝗱𝗼 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻.
· 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 is recommended – the train can be as loud as a jet engine.
· Trains 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗹𝘆; it takes upwards of a mile for a train to stop.
