This afternoon, Loogootee Fire Department responded to an emergency call involving a male patient who sustained an arm injury while working a vehicle. Upon arrival, Deputy Branham of the Martin County, Indiana Sheriff's Office had already successfully applied a tourniquet to control severe bleeding.

Subsequent investigation revealed the vehicle had shifted off its jack stand, causing a deep laceration to the patient's forearm. Following transport by Martin County Ambulance Services, LFD personnel remained on-site to lift the vehicle off the ground, safely returning it to an additional jack stand provided by the neighbor to eliminate any remaining hazards.

Reminder of free lunch for EMS personnel today! Air Evac Lifeteam 17 - Paoli, Ind. is still hoping to land today, weather permitting. That landing time was originally set for 12:00 today, but may be pushed back an hour. Bring the kids and come check out the helicopter, talk to the flight crew, and our Local EMS crew!

Air Evac Lifeteam 17 - Paoli, Ind. will be joining us if they don't have a call. Even if you're not in the profession, just come out and meet our local heroes! They are outstanding people and love interacting with the public!

At 7:57 A.M LFD was dispatched to a structure fire involving a mini barn. Dispatch advised there are propane tanks inside.

Upon arrival, the structure was fully engulfed.

Personnel extinguished the fire, and had to pull out the contents of the building, comprised mainly of straw bales. The roof was taken off so that upcoming rains could keep the smoldering straw bales extinguished.

Martin County Ambulance Services was on standby and Martin County Civil Defense was contacted for tanker support. Martin County, Indiana Sheriff's Office was also assisting on scene

Cause of the fire was determined to be a lightning strike to the structure.
