June is PACKED with events at the Lonsdale Public Library 📚

Fun for all ages, there’s something going on just about everyday this month!

Each year, over 35,000 participants and over 3,500 teams participate in rides across the country in support of people with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). With the fundraising support of each cyclist, the National MS Society can continue their work of tackling the complex challenges of MS. From one-to-one MS Navigator support and advocacy that drives systemic change, to a network of resources and information that helps people affected by MS feel more in control and less alone — the Society will continue to support those affected by MS anyway they can.

This year the Society will be biking 150 miles.

This Saturday will be around the southern part of MN, and this Sunday will be from St. Peter to Buck Hill in Burnsville.

This year, their route will come through Lonsdale, rest at Trcka Park (S Main Street and Idaho St SW). Then ride up Main St to Fig St, Halstad Ave leaving towards Elko New Market.

This is an all day event from 6:30a-5:00p on 6/14.

This year they will have upwards of 2,000 riders. Please have caution when backing out or driving on Main Street, and refrain from parking extra cars on the street to keep it open and safe. Below is the route for reference!

The City of Lonsdale and the Founders Day Committee are VERY excited to be bringing you this event. They have been working very hard to create a day honoring the history of Lonsdale and the RETURN of the Lonsdale Fireworks.

The City of Lonsdale has announced that adult mosquito control spraying will take place this summer at dusk, as conditions warrant. For the last seven years, the City contracted with Clarke to help reduce the nuisance and public health threat posed by mosquitoes. This year, the City will be contracting with Vector Disease Control International (VDCI) located in Oakdale, MN and we look forward to another successful spraying season.

🦟Spraying will be done at dusk weekly on Tuesday’s beginning on May 26th and continue through September 15th.🦟

In addition to spraying, surface water treatment will also be conducted. This will be done by placing organic larvicide VectoMax WSP/CG: OMRI Organic “pellets”, which are effective for 45 days, in shallow bodies of water to prevent the growth of mosquito larva. Monitoring will be conducted and pellets added, if necessary, every 21-day. The pellets can be applied to areas that contain fish, other aquatic life and plants. In theory, this should reduce the number of adult mosquitoes that need to be sprayed for.
