Somewhere between the last day of school and the first day of the rest of their lives, it snuck up on you.
The last summer before they leave. The last time the house will feel this full. The last season of normal before everything shifts into something new and beautiful and quietly heartbreaking all at once.
Nobody prepares you for the grief of a life stage ending, especially when it's a good one. Especially when you're proud. Especially when you'd do it all over again in a heartbeat.
It's okay to feel all of it. The joy and the ache. The pride and the loss. The excitement for what's ahead and the longing to hold onto what's right now just a little longer.
Transition, even a good transition, is still loss. And loss deserves to be honored. ๐ค
If this season is stirring up more than you expected, Hope Road Counseling is here to help you navigate it with care and compassion.
