🔥 Firefighter Friday 🔥

This week’s Firefighter Friday spotlight is on Zachary Zarcone!

Zachary has been serving in EMS for 8 years and in the fire service for 4 years. He joined the Longmeadow Fire Department 7 months ago and has quickly become a valued member of the team.

What Zachary enjoys most about Longmeadow is the small-town community, the strong bond shared among department members, and the continued progression of EMS within the department.

When he's not at work, Zachary enjoys spending time with his fiancée and his dog, Ellie. Whether he's relaxing on the patio, heading to the beach, hiking, cooking for family and friends, or simply enjoying the outdoors, he makes the most of his time away from the station.

Firefighter Friday 🔥

This week, we're proud to spotlight Alan Torrey, one of our dedicated firefighter/paramedics at the Longmeadow Fire Department.
Alan began his career in Fire and EMS on August 10, 2007, and brings nearly two decades of experience to the profession. He joined the Longmeadow Fire Department in October 2024 and currently serves as a Firefighter/Paramedic and our Public Education Coordinator.

When asked what he enjoys most about working at Longmeadow Fire, Alan highlighted the department's high standards, supportive leadership, and great camaraderie among coworkers.

Outside of the firehouse, Alan enjoys spending time with his family camping, attending hockey games, and relaxing at the beach. He is also a passionate Revolutionary War reenactor and serves as an instructor at the Massachusetts Fire Academy, helping train the next generation of firefighters.

Thank you, Alan, for your dedication to the department, the community, and the fire service. We are proud to have you as part of the Longmeadow Fire Department! 🚒🇺🇸

Many thanks to Janice Greenberg and the yellow dot team for bringing this program to Longmeadow and getting vital information in the hands of first responders when they need it most. We are looking forward to presenting this important initiative to our Town Officials in the coming months!

**WATER MAIN BREAK**

There is a water main break at the intersection of Longmeadow St. and Booth Rd. Please avoid the area, if possible, while crews work to repair the break. Areas of Longmeadow St south of Nevins Ave may experience low or no water pressure during the repairs.

🔥 Firefighter Friday 🔥

This week, we’re recognizing Firefighter/Paramedic Michael Lee!

Michael began his fire service career as a volunteer in 1988 and was appointed as a career firefighter with Rye Brook Fire Department in New York in February of 1994. With decades of experience in Fire and EMS, Michael continues to bring professionalism, knowledge, and dedication to every shift.
Including his first stint with the department in 2009–2010, Michael has proudly served almost 4 years with the Longmeadow Fire Department.

When asked what he enjoys most about Longmeadow Fire Department, Michael said it’s the “great bunch of people” he gets to work with every day, something that shows in the teamwork and camaraderie throughout the department.

Outside of work, Michael enjoys spending time on the golf course and is currently finishing up another bachelor’s degree in Fire Administration/Emergency Management to continue his professional development. He finds both equally rewarding and enjoyable.

🔥 Firefighter Friday 🔥

This week we’re recognizing Damian McCartney!
Damian has proudly served in the fire service since 2007 and has spent nearly 9 years with the Longmeadow Fire Department. As a Firefighter/EMT and the department mechanic, Damian plays a huge role both on emergency scenes and behind the scenes keeping apparatus and equipment ready to respond at all times.

What Damian enjoys most about the job is the people he works with and the residents he serves every day. His dedication, work ethic, and willingness to help wherever needed make him a valued member of the department.

Outside of the firehouse, Damian enjoys spending time with family, playing hockey and BBQing on the smoker.
