We have a fun giveaway for all of our firefighters and fire department volunteers in honor of International Firefighters Day. I created an event for this, but the details are below. Everybody gets something, but whichever local fire company shows up with the most members over the course of the day will win a special art piece worth $$$ they can display or use for fundraising purposes.
Who will win, Tunkhannock Twp. Vol. Fire Co. Station 42? Maybe Tobyhanna Township? Pocono Summit Volunteer Fire Company? Maybe one of the other local fire houses? I’m excited to see who wins in this friendly competition, but also to say thank you to fire departments everywhere for what they do for our communities!

Fire Department members stop by The Knotty Wick for a free gift in honor of International Firefighters Day on Sunday, May 3rd, from 11am-5pm. No purchase is necessary, just come by for snacks, drinks , a gift, and our sincere thanks for what you do.

Whichever local fire company has the highest attendance that day will receive a special art piece they can display or use for fundraising purposes!

It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Life Member Philip Anderson.

Phil served the company and community for over 35 years. Throughout his time with us, he held the ranks of Firefighter, Assistant Engineer, and Lieutenant. In addition to his operational roles, Phil also served as Vice President, Secretary and as a member of the Board of Directors.

Over the years, he also gave his time and effort by serving on numerous committees, including the Radio Committee, House Committee, By-Laws Committee, and many more.

His commitment, leadership, and contributions will not be forgotten. Phil will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to serve alongside him.

Please keep his family, friends, and fellow members in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

At 8:30am Engine 42 and Tanker 42 responded to a working house fire assisting Penn Forest Township Volunteer Fire Company #2 and multiple other departments. Crews on scene assisted with overhaul. As crews were taking up from that call, Penn Forest Twp. Fire Co. No. 1 received a call for a working house fire in their area. Engine 42 and Tanker 42 along with other units responded from the scene of the first fire. The Engine and Tanker arrived first to find a working fire in the basement. Crews were on scene of the second fire for just under two hours.

Today, nearly 50 responders came together for a Man vs. Machine training class, including 12 members from Station 42 along with 38 members representing 14 other fire and EMS agencies from throughout the region.

Participants gained valuable hands-on experience and knowledge on how to safely manage complex rescue situations. This training covered everything from simple to more involved scenarios, including incidents ranging from a stuck ring on a finger to full machinery entrapments.

A great day of learning, teamwork, and strengthening inter-agency cooperation.

Thank you to PL Vulcan training and their instructors for a great day of instruction.

And thank you to our support committee for providing lunch for everyone who was in attendance.

This past Tuesday night, our members trained on various lifting techniques using some of our newly purchased equipment. Crews worked with a floor jack, high-pressure air bags, and low-pressure air bags, lifting a light vehicle to become more familiar with their operation.

Training like this ensures we stay prepared and ready to safely handle a variety of emergency situations in our community.
