Mark your calendars, Summer Reading 2026 is almost here!

From June 13 through August 8, we invite you to "Plant a Seed, Read" with us during this year's Summer Reading program. This time around, you can earn prizes by reading books, attending library programs, completing creative challenges, and more!
To sign up, stop by any LBPL location to pick up a physical tracker, or virtually log your progress at longbeach.beanstack.org.

Join us on Saturday, June 13 to officially kick off the celebration with these special performances:

The Celebration of the Young Child is back this year, happening on April 25 from 10 AM - 2 PM at the BJK Main Library and Lincoln Park! This free event provides hands-on activities, family-friendly performances, and local vendors providing free on-site screenings and resources.

We’re joining the West Coast’s largest book club, One Book, One Coast! This year we’re reading They Called Us Enemy by George Takei. From now until June 6th, we'll have unlimited eBooks (English and Spanish) of They Called Us Enemy on the Libby app: bit.ly/LBPLCatalog-Takei

To close out One Book, One Coast, there will be an author talk and book signing with George Takei on Sunday, May 31, from 2 – 4 PM at LA County Library's East Los Angeles Library.
