Sealed Bid Notice

The Town of Long Beach is accepting sealed bids for a 1995 Johnston Street Sweeper.

Bids are due by 4:00 PM CST on Monday, July 13, 2026, and will be opened during the Town Council meeting that evening.

🟡 SWIM ADVISORY ISSUED FOR LONG BEACH 🟡

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) has issued a Swim Advisory for the following Long Beach beach locations based on elevated E. coli bacteria levels from water samples collected:

• Stop 14 – 365 CFU/100mL
• Stop 20 – 387 CFU/100mL
• Stop 24 – 261 CFU/100mL

Swimming is discouraged, especially for children, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals. Pets should avoid water. Health risks include GI illness, respiratory issues, and skin/eye infections.

Water quality can change rapidly due to rainfall, stormwater runoff, wildlife activity, and other environmental factors. The Town will continue to monitor conditions and will post updates as additional test results become available.

Following the April 13th Town Council meeting and presentation of the preliminary design for the Lake Shore Drive Roadway Reconstruction Project, the Town is now collecting public comments.

We encourage residents to review the proposed plans and share feedback on how the project may impact their property.

Project documents, including preliminary drawings and supporting materials, can be viewed on the Town website.

You can submit your comments by:

The form allows you to provide detailed comments, concerns, and suggestions. You may also include your contact information if you would like a member of the project team to follow up with you directly.

⚠️ Tornado Siren Test Update – Tuesday, March 10

La Porte County Emergency Management has announced that the statewide tornado siren test scheduled for tomorrow will NOT include siren activation in La Porte County.

Due to the potential for severe weather in the area, officials have decided not to sound the outdoor warning sirens in order to prevent confusion if actual weather warnings occur.

The statewide test will still take place, but sirens in La Porte County will remain silent.

As always, residents are encouraged to have multiple ways to receive severe weather alerts, including weather apps, NOAA weather radios, and local news notifications.

Long Beach Food Drive – Donations Needed

The Long Beach Police & Fire Departments are partnering with The Salvation Army to host a Holiday Food Drive from November 1 – 30.

A collection bin is located in the lobby. All donations can be dropped off during regular business hours.

With the holiday season approaching and many families feeling the effects of today’s economy, these contributions are especially meaningful. Every donation, large or small, helps support neighbors in need right here in our community.

We are proud to announce that Deputies Petras Gliozeris, Brandon Hugley, Dylan Hugley, Robert Hugley, and Jeremy Van Gieson have been recognized with the 2025 Modern Woodmen Hometown Hero Award.

The Modern Woodmen Hometown Hero Award recognizes individuals who selflessly volunteer and make significant contributions to improve their local communities. This national program, run by Modern Woodmen of America, honors those who go above and beyond in community service, including police officers, firefighters, teachers, business owners, and social workers, by presenting them with a certificate and a donation to a local charity made in their honor.

Earlier this year, we submitted our five Reserve Deputy Marshals for this annual award, and we’re thrilled to see their dedication acknowledged.

In addition to the individual recognitions, the Modern Woodmen Association will be making a $500 donation to the Michigan City Salvation Army Food Pantry in their honor.

We extend our sincere thanks to each of these deputies for their continued volunteerism, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to the Long Beach community. Your efforts do not go unnoticed and are deeply appreciated by your fellow first responders and the residents you serve.
