The work we do for District 8 is fueled by the dedicated people behind the scenes, and this graduation season, I am bursting with pride as seven of our own hit major academic milestones! Please join me in giving a massive congratulations to our trailblazing graduates:

✌️📜 Franbert Calderon – Balancing the fast-paced demands of our council office with rigorous graduate coursework is no small feat! Our fearless Chief of Staff walked the stage at the historic USC Coliseum this past May to receive his Master of Public Administration from the Sol Price School of Public Policy. Fight On!

🤙🏾💛 Omar Bell-Gonzalez – Omar earned his B.A in Political Science from CSULB. As an Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. , Chapter President, his leadership skills are already making a massive impact, and his focus on policy will take him even further!

✌️❤️ Celia Stevens – Celia is officially heading to the University of Southern California as an incoming Political Science major. We can’t wait to see the impact she will continue to make!

🐂🎓 Oscar Camargo – Oscar received a B.S. in Criminal Justice Administration and a minor in communications, his dedication to justice, paired with his communication skills, is exactly what our community needs!

✌️🏛️ Seamus McCormack- Seamus is officially heading to the University of Southern California to pursue his Master of Public Administration. We are so excited to watch him continue to grow as a public servant!

🚒 Barry Gadsen – Barry currently serves in the LBFD Fire Corp and is eagerly awaiting the start of the academy as an incoming Long Beach Fire Department Firefighter recruit!

✨🎓 Meilani Barcinas-Dixon – Meilani graduated from the illustrious Howard University and has a beautiful, bright future ahead!

This past Saturday, my team hosted a community cleanup at Jackson Park. The Clean Team LB Public Works picked up 1.45 tons of trash! That is 2,900 pounds of trash taken off the street and into the proper trash and recycling collection. Thank you to my team, our Jackson Park residents, and the Public Works Clean Team for supporting our neighborhood.
