At last night's Flotilla 06-02's meeting held at the Huntington Harbour Yacht Club in Huntington Beach, CA, the monthly agenda wasn't the only thing that took place. Five members from Flotilla 06-02 will be retiring from the Coast Guard Auxiliary at the end of this year. Flotilla Commander John Aden arranged to have a retirement celebration to honor them all. The five members collectively served a total of 115.5 years. They are:

Dr. Mark Monroe - 20 yrs
Desiree de Liser - 15 yrs
Jon Ross - 20 yrs
Francisco Floriani - 25 yrs
Champ Clark - 24 yrs

Only Dr. Monroe, Desiree de Liser and Jon Ross were able to attend the celebration. Each was presented a plaque thanking them for their service and friendship.

Honoring two members of Flotilla 06-02 who are being recognized for their accomplishments:

Robert Gimenez, FSO-PV received his certification as a Culinary Assistant Level 1 (CA-1), and for his certification as Vessel Examiner (VE).

Tom Oberlin, FSO-CM who was awarded a Flotilla 06-02 engraved glass mug for his services as FSO-CM for the year 2024.

The presentation took place during the Flotilla Meeting held at the Huntington Harbour Yacht Club located in Huntington Beach, CA. Presenting the awards is John Aden, FC.

Congratulations to both of these members.

Uniform Inspections.

The Coast Guard Auxiliary requires each member have their uniforms inspected annually to ensure and maintain a professional appearance.

At last night's Flotilla 06-02 monthly meeting, members Ron Lyse and Billy Le had their uniform inspection take place, conducted by John Aden, Flotilla Commander. Both passed the inspection with flying colors.

Meet Flotilla 06-02's newest member.

Mercedes Diaz attended the Flotilla meeting held at the Huntington Harbour Yacht Club in Huntington Beach on Wednesday evening, 26 February and was sworn in by District 11S DCAPT Wayne Palmer. Mercedes was presented with her new member packet, and certificate of membership by Flotilla Commander John Aden.

Congratulations Mercedes, and welcome to the Coast Guard Auxiliary Family.

Uniform Inspections are a vital part in maintaining a professional appearance in representing the Coast Guard and Coast Guard Auxiliary. Here, Flotilla Commander John Aden (114-06-02) inspects his Flotilla Staff Officers (FSO) team at a recent meeting. These are required of every member annually in keeping with the mission of the inspections.

Congratulations going out to two members of Flotilla 06-02 who received their award recognition for the following:
Mr. Don Nguyen, ADSO-OP for over 1500 sustained hours
Mr. David Campagnari, FSO-FN for his 150 hours in 2023.

In addition, Mr. Jeffrey Goeggel was presented his Coast Guard Auxiliary ID Card after he completed his CORE Training, Intro to Risk Management and Boating Safety Course.

Presenting all awards is Mr. John Aden, FC.

Congratulations going out to Mr. Billy Le and Mr. Robert Gimenez who completed the required courses elevating their membership status to BQ or Basically Qualified. Both are members of Flotilla 06-02 and were presented with their certificates by Mr. John Aden, Flotilla Commander during the September 2024 Flotilla meeting. Bravo Zulu!
