SB 423 will require public agencies to release records related to 911 calls from privately-run detention facilities.

Reports of inhumane conditions, neglect, and assault continue to increase. We won’t let these facilities continue to violate human rights in our state.

Today, my SB 423 passed the Assembly!

This bill is part of our effort to hold privately-run detention facilities accountable for the numerous reported human rights abuses.

SB 423 will require agencies to release records related to 911 calls from these facilities, improving transparency and oversight.

Today, Team Gonzalez was proud to join Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles for the grand unveiling and dedication of Erin Grove, a new 36-home townhouse community in Long Beach and Habitat LA’s largest development to date.

This new community represents an important investment in expanding access to homeownership and giving more families the opportunity to build stability, equity, and a brighter future right here in Long Beach.

We were also proud to celebrate Erin Rank, President & CEO of Habitat LA, whose over two decades of leadership and dedication to affordable homeownership are honored through the naming of Erin Grove. A Long Beach native who began with Habitat LA as a volunteer and became its first employee, Erin has helped transform the organization and expand its impact throughout our region.

Congratulations to Erin, the future homeowners, and all of the volunteers, staff, donors, and community partners who helped bring this incredible development to life!

Team Gonzalez attended SEIU Local 2015 Community Resource Fair in Long Beach!

Our long-term care workers provide essential care to seniors, people with disabilities, and families across our communities every single day. It was great to spend time with caregivers, local families, and community members while connecting residents with important resources.

Thank you to SEIU Local 2015 for bringing our community together and for continuing to advocate for caregivers.

✊ Today marks the 63rd anniversary of the March on Washington, where hundreds of thousands marched for equal rights.

This year, I supported SCR 89 to reaffirm California’s commitment to equal rights and equal opportunities for people of all backgrounds. As the federal government continues to roll back civil rights protections, we are fighting back!

Team Gonzalez was out at the Midtown Business Improvement District mixer, connecting with local business and property owners along the Anaheim Corridor! 🤝

The event was hosted at PS 162, a local Cambodian restaurant, and brought together a great mix of community voices — including representatives from Councilwoman Dr. Suely Saro’s office, the Midtown Safety Liaison, local food influencers, and more.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support our local business community! 🙌
