40 years ago today (Oct 30, 1981), LBPD Motor Officer Lloyd Lund was killed in a motorcycle traffic accident. Severe wind gusts averaging 30-40mph pushed Officer Lund into the center divider of the 405 Freeway causing his death. Officer Lund was a 27 year veteran who had spent 18 years as a motor patrol officer. He was 55-years-old when he died and just weeks away from retirement. Lloyd was a graduate of Wilson High School and a Navy veteran before joining LBPD in March 1954. He was survived by his wife Penny, son Dennis, and daughters Denise and Cherie.

RIP Sir. You are remembered.
