We're looking for hairdressers with big hearts for our next free haircut day at the parks!

When: Any weekend day you're available! We operate our Park Distribution program around 10 am to 4 pm every Saturday and Sunday :) We don't ask for your attendance the whole time - we know weekends are big for business! Just 2-3 hours is super impactful. Whatever you can do - we'd be super grateful!

Where: Our Park Distribution schedule never changes and is posted on our website https://f.mtr.cool/d16q564zx9 and is shared on social media every other week. It's pinned to the top of our IG page too :) Where just depends on the hours you're available.

Why donate to us?

1. Just $1.21 provides a fresh, healthy, full meal for a neighbor in need

2. We serve around 6,000 LB neighbors every single week

3. We've been doing this for over 8 years, so we know what it takes and have expanded immensely to meet the needs of everyone we can - resulting in multiple food distribution programs tailored to the people

4. We deliver to those that are disabled, ill or are otherwise unable to travel so no one goes hungry. Our deliveries always serve as a positive connection for our recipient and a wellness check

5. We distribute at 8 different parks throughout the lower income neighborhoods of Long Beach to serve as many people as we can

6. We know it's more than food. It's being treated with love and respect. Being a part of a community and feeling cared for. We emphasize this element of our interactions to help people on a more holistic level

7. We also provide clothes, shoes, hygiene products, feminine products, baby products, books, toys on holidays, rain gear and whatever else we get our hands on. We recently were able to distribute bicycles because of an incredible donation!

8. Without food aid, people would not be getting their needs met, which has a direct correlation with test scores lowering, crime rates rising and property values (not to mention city funding) lowering.

Taking care of those struggling most actually benefits everyone on a very real and tangible level.

We don't know what the future holds, but we do know that these tools will be useful no matter what!

Happy to be with Pam Chotiswatdi, our board president, to help raise awareness about homelessness. This is the first Long Beach Film festival. What a great topic!!!

We just watched the first screening of "Rescued" about a homeless man and the dog that "rescued him"at the art theater. Now listening to the lead actor talk about his experience. He worked with us to do research. Many unhoused people have a pet. The non profit below helps us get pet food to the animals that love their unhoused friends.

Our very first commercial refrigerator is being put out to pasture! We've used it for 7 years and it has served the community well! We now have 30 and we're about to get 2 new ones from a program that provides low energy fridges and freezers. They will also replace our lights for free with more energy efficient ones! We are in a very challenging time for most Americans. The cost of living has gone through the roof while tons of people are losing jobs to automation and AI. Those that have their jobs still are likely getting paid a small percentage higher than the people in their role 30 years ago - not even remotely matching inflation. People are having to choose between eating and seeing a doctor and getting their necessary dosage of medication. Or they did see a doctor and are now drowning in medical bills.

It is not only important, but ESSENTIAL that we care for those struggling. Because things are HARD right now. Because the standard of living for those in poverty shouldn't be starving outside in one of the most powerful nations on the planet. Because we're a community. Because we're all living beings.

Don't let these tough times harden you. Let it push you to be a more impactful servant for your community. Get involved!

We desperately need more monthly donors to give us more foundation for our organization! Everything we offer is free, but we pay for transportation, insurance, rent, electricity for many many refrigerators. Consistent income will ensure that our food aid programs will remain a beacon of hope for the Long Beach community.
