Fun Friday was a wonderful time for everyone who joined us recently! 🎉

At Century Villages at Cabrillo, we host intergenerational gatherings throughout the year, from game days and movie nights to cooking activities and creative projects—helping residents stay connected and build community.

A special thank-you to for bringing delicious popsicles for our residents—always a favorite! We’re also grateful to our amazing Occupational Therapy team for leading DIY magnet and button activities that everyone enjoyed.

Thank you as well to the staff, youth, and families who came out to spend time together, play games, and make the afternoon so special. We hope to see everyone again at our next Fun Friday!

In addition to maintaining a high GPA, Lala is an incredibly talented artist. Her artwork can be seen throughout the community, bringing creativity, inspiration, and joy to those around her.

We are so proud of Lala and grateful for the leadership, positivity, and creativity she brings to our community each day.

We’re proud to celebrate our colleagues Joseph Haywood and Millicent Boye, who were recognized yesterday at the Affordable Housing Management Association - Pacific Southwest (AHMA-PSW) Industry Awards.

Joseph Haywood, Facilities Manager, received the “Maintenance Professional of the Year” award, while Millicent Boye, Resident Services Manager, received the “Supervisor of the Year” award. These honors recognize outstanding professionalism, compassion, leadership, and service within the affordable housing industry.

Strong communities are built not only through housing, but through the people who help residents feel supported, respected, and cared for every day. Joe and Millie embody that commitment through their dedication to residents, communities, and colleagues, and we are incredibly grateful for all they do.

Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!

Lawrence may be a newer resident at Century Villages at Cabrillo, but he has already become a valued part of our community.

He regularly participates in groups, discussions, and community activities, always bringing kindness and thoughtfulness to those around him. Whether he’s pouring coffee at the monthly Village Community Meeting or helping fellow residents feel welcome, Larry’s compassion and positive spirit have made a meaningful impact. We were proud to honor him with the Residential Spotlight Award at a recent meeting.

We are grateful to have Larry as part of our community and look forward to seeing his continued growth and connection with others.

Thank you to Port of Long Beach – the Green Port for sponsoring our 2026 Flutter into Spring Festival!

Our community came alive with music, joy, and connection as families, veterans, and neighbors gathered for a vibrant celebration. Events like these play an important role in fostering connection, creating joyful shared experiences, and linking residents to resources that support their well-being.

Guests explored 17 exhibitors, enjoyed interactive booths, raffle prizes, and valuable resources—while kids and adults alike participated in fun games and activities.

With support from partners like Black Knight Patrol, the day offered a welcoming, festive environment for residents and neighbors to come together and enjoy.

Leland is a veteran resident who is passionate about playing the flute. He describes it as his “first love” and has played since he was young. Mr. Potter recalls famous flute players as mentors and continued to listen to jazz, and blues tracks that feature the instrument. He continued to admire the instrument when he no longer had a teacher or his own instrument.

A few years ago, Mr. Potter suffered a stroke. Though he is still recovering his abilities, he stated that learning to play the flute would be “like second nature” and eagerly looks forward to relearning how to play the instrument with the help of his occupational therapy sessions. He is so grateful to have obtained a new flute from Acoustic for a Change and expressed that receiving it was a “wonderful” moment.

A huge thank you to the Santa Monica Elks for your incredible generosity and for supporting our veterans at our West LA housing community.

We had a great time setting up and packing welcome-home kits.

Our new veteran residents, who recently moved in with few or no belongings, are also very grateful for your support.

A heartfelt thank you to Canes For Vets for crafting beautiful, handmade canes for the cane-carrying Veteran residents at The Villages of Cabrillo. Because of your generosity and dedication, our Veterans will proudly carry their new, custom-made canes, each one a meaningful symbol of service, honor, and respect.

Your craftsmanship not only provides mobility support but also uplifts spirits and fosters confidence, turning a simple cane into a piece of art that reflects each Veteran’s story and sacrifice.

Thank you for believing in our mission and for helping us honor those who served with both skill and deep respect.
