"DPT
Education Virtual Fair Participant and Prospective Student:
In
March 2015, the South College Doctor of Physical Therapy Program was granted candidacy status by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). As a result, we have accepted and enrolled our charter class as we now look toward accepting
applicants and enrolling well-qualified students DPT class that is set to begin coursework in June 2016!
On
September 21 and 22, 2015, through the APTA's DPT Education Virtual Fair, we will be hosting a chat room entitled "South College DPT Program: Innovation in DPT Education" from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. EST and again from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. EST on each
day.
The
South College DPT Program, developed in partnership with Evidence in Motion (EIM), has several features that make this program unique. First, the curriculum is delivered in a blended learning format using a combination of faculty-directed online coursework
and onsite lab instruction. This flexible educational model allows students to live anywhere in the country and commute to Knoxville, Tennessee for quarterly onsite lab intensives. Second, the 3-year academic curriculum is compressed into 2 calendar years
to reduce the overall duration and cost of DPT education. Third, students participate in a structured clinical education curriculum and collaborative placements (i.e., 2-3 students together) within our nationwide network of clinical education sites. Fourth,
the program is structured to blend seamlessly into a paid post-professional residency program in variety of specialty practice areas to prepare graduates for advanced practice in their desired area clinical focus. And finally, our academic and clinical faculty
are top-notch in every way and represent some of the foremost leaders in education, research, and practice in the profession.
The
caliber of our faculty, the innovative model of delivery, and the ability to live anywhere while completing your DPT in 2 years, resulted in an overwhelming response from potential applicants for our charter class. We fully expect a similar response during
this year’s application cycle as more students are made aware of the unique nature of the South College DPT program.
