CSULB ASME

CSULB ASME We are the California State University of Long Beach Chapter

The purpose of our chapter is to help engineering students gain further insight into real world applications of mechanical engineering beyond what can be taught in the classroom. We offer students the opportunity to attend and participate in various events: tours of industrial plants; lectures given by speakers involved in industry and research; student conferences and seminars; intercollegiate de

sign competitions; and social activities to network with peers, professors, and engineers in industry. ASME is one of the largest engineering organizations worldwide with 125,000 regular members and 250 student sections. Membership in ASME offers numerous benefits and is a fun and exciting way to become an engineering student leader.

If any of you are down to chill tomorrow, Wednesday, a couple of us will be in VEC 524 playing board games, eating pizza, talking about life, our goals, and dreams...haha...but really, it will just be a chill night to celebrate ASME's takeoff this semester and to thank all of you for being part of it.
We'll be there all day long(11am ~ 8pm) so feel free to stop by any time you wish.
Hope to see some of you there!

Hello everyone,

We hope this email is able to reach all College of Engineering students.

You are receiving this message because we would like to invite all of you to ASME's "Just Do It" Initiative Kickoff Event.
What exactly is this?
It is a plan , a commitment and promise we as an organization want to extend to all students in the College Of Engineering. As an organization we aim to foster the curious and creative aspects of each engineering student by welcoming each of you to a hands-on environment where there is no shortage of creativeness, peers, resources and support to help ideas come to life while at the same time bringing prestige and recognition to the College Of Engineering and CSULB.

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is open not only to mechanical engineers but all engineers and all individuals with a desire to make, build and apply the concepts they study about in class.

This year marks the first year ASME will become a purely "hands-on" organization with a focus on national competition.

These projects include but are not limited to:

-Under water robotics (ROV)
-Bike building (human powered vehicle)
-3D printing
-Above water robotics
-Battle Bots
-Quadcopters
-Humanoid robots
And more.

All skills are welcomed and every person wanting to get involved will have the opportunity to get involved and actively participate.

If interested, come to our kickoff meeting this Thursday at 4:00pm in VEC 401 where there will be refreshments and a chance to check out some of the projects as well as opportunities to connect with the teams you are interested to work with.

For those of you not able to make it but are still interested, please send us an email to [email protected]

Best,

Carlos Vergara, President
American Society of Mechanical Engineers

For those of you that are not subscribed to our email alerts:

Hello everyone!

As some of you may know from last week's meeting, we need to do a lot of work as an organization. All we have done so far is a lot of talk but we have not actually done any work. To fix this, current ASME officers will be putting in work and polishing all aspects of this organization so you all can participate with ease and on your time on the projects you want.

With that in mind, and in order to prepare for what's to come of this organization, we will be cancelling today's (10/13/15) and next week's (10/20/15) meetings.

It has also come to our attention that most officers and members are not able to attend the meeting during this time (Tuesdays at 4PM), which is why we will be moving our weekly meetings to Thursdays at 4PM. These meetings will resume two weeks from now and you will all be reminded a few days before.

If you are not an officer but would still like to provide input to what you want to see in the club, feel free to comment on our ASME page or send your suggestions through email.

Additionally, if you are interested on becoming an officer, express your interest by replying to this email.

Again, sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience during this time of reconstruction.

Have a nice week and enjoy your day!
