So… what does an Army doctor actually do?

Probably more of what you’d expect—and some things you might not.

In Episode 3 of Answer the Call: An Army Medicine Story, Damien starts looking beyond the uniform to understand what practicing medicine in the Army can actually look like.

Army physicians practice medicine. Their day-to-day work depends on their specialty and mission, just like their civilian counterparts. But Army Medicine can also take healthcare professionals beyond the traditional hospital setting—from supporting Soldiers in operational environments to humanitarian and global health missions.

For Damien, understanding the opportunity also means separating what he’s heard about Army life from what Army medical professionals actually do.

Now we want to hear from you: What’s something you’ve heard about being a doctor in the Army that you’ve always wondered was actually true?

Drop it in the comments. Your question could help shape a future story.

We remember.

Twenty-five years ago, our nation was forever changed by the attacks of September 11, 2001.

Today, we honor the lives lost, the families forever affected, and the courage of the first responders, service members, medical professionals and ordinary Americans who answered in a moment of extraordinary need.

For Army Medicine, that legacy of service continues in the men and women who stand ready to care for others when they are needed most.

We remember their lives. We honor their service. We carry their legacy forward.

Damien asked the question. Now let’s talk about the answer.

In Episode 1, Damien sat down with an Army Medical Recruiter and asked about something he heard about: HPSP.

Episode 2: An Army Medicine Story starts breaking down what the Health Professions Scholarship Program is and what that path could look like for someone pursuing medicine.

But Damien still has questions, and we want yours too.
If you were considering Medical School, what would you want to know before taking the next step?

Drop your question below. We may work it into a future episode.

What if there was another way to get to medical school?

Meet Damien. He knows where he wants to go. He just doesn't know every path that can get him there.

Episode 1 of Answer the Call: An Army Medicine Story follows the beginning of that conversation.

But we want to hear from you:
