This week, Mayor Tim Pierce takes a closer look at the exciting progress happening at the Gateway Project!

New lighting has now been installed throughout the project area. The lights feature a warm amber glow designed to be turtle-friendly, meeting new state requirements for coastal developments. Long Beach is proud to be the first city on the Mississippi Gulf Coast to implement lighting under these updated standards.

We also discuss the proposed Bellamare Development, which could possibly be a phase of the Gateway Project. The proposal includes amenities designed to enhance the beachfront experience, including public restrooms, activities, food vendors, and gathering spaces that will encourage residents and visitors to spend more time enjoying our beautiful coastline while supporting local businesses.

Please note that the Bellamare Development proposal is currently under review by the Long Beach Board of Aldermen.

Watch this week's Moment with the Mayor to learn more about these exciting projects and the continued investment in Long Beach's waterfront future

Our Public Works crew has officially begun work on a new string light project next to City Hall off Jeff Davis Avenue!

Crews are currently preparing the area and getting ready to install the poles that will soon support decorative string lights, creating a new feature in downtown Long Beach. Once completed, the space will provide an atmosphere and the perfect backdrop for photos, community events, and evening strolls.

We’re excited to see this project take shape and look forward to sharing updates along the way. Thank you to our Public Works team for their hard work and dedication to enhancing our city!

EXERCISE – EXERCISE – EXERCISE

Expect some extra noise and activity on board NCBC Gulfport over the next week. From June 10–17, the U.S. Army Reserve's 78th Training Support Division will be supporting training on base in the vicinity of Warehouse 215.

If you are near the exercise area, you may see and hear:
🪖Military Police operations & mass gatherings
🪖Additional Armored vehicles
🪖Simulated weapon systems, sirens, and loudspeakers

Please don't be alarmed by the increased noise and activity, it's just our service members staying sharp.

Thank you for your cooperation!

As part of the ongoing improvements at the Long Beach Gateway, new turtle-friendly parking lot and beach access lights will be installed today and tomorrow.

The lights will be tested following installation to ensure everything is operating properly. Once testing is complete, the lights will remain off until the opening of the Gateway Project.

These turtle-friendly lights are designed to help protect our coastal wildlife while providing safe and efficient lighting for residents and visitors.

Thank you for your patience as work continues on this exciting project!
