May was an especially busy month at the Drop-In Center as we welcomed our growing unhoused community over five Sundays. During the month, we served 969 meals, including one Sunday when 226 meals were provided. The additional Sunday, combined with the increasing need in our community, contributed to one of our busiest months this year.

We also provided take-home groceries to 40 low-income seniors throughout the month, helping to supplement meals during these challenging economic times. We remain grateful for the support of Food Finders, First Congregational Church of Long Beach, our dedicated volunteers, donors, and our hardworking staff who make this work possible. Your continued support allows us to provide nourishment, connection, and hope to those who need it most.

As the number of individuals and families seeking assistance continues to grow, so do the costs of purchasing food and supplies. If you are able, we would be grateful for donations of canned goods and other nonperishable food items to help keep our pantry shelves stocked and ensure we can continue serving those in need. Thank you!!

April was a meaningful and active month for us at the drop-in center. Over the course of the month, we served 698 hot meals, and we saw a noticeable increase in the number of unhoused neighbors joining us each Sunday. While the growing need is something we are always mindful of, we remain grateful that we are able to continue welcoming everyone into a safe and supportive space each week.

Thanks to the generosity of Food Finders and our donors, our guests continue to enjoy not only a warm meal each Sunday, but also plenty of bread, fruit, and salads to take with them.

We are continually encouraged by the support we receive from FCCLB and our many dedicated donors. Your kindness and consistency never cease to amaze us, and it is because of you that we are able to serve our growing community with dignity and care. We remain deeply grateful, for our staff, for our volunteers, and for each of you who makes this possible. We look forward to all that May will bring as we continue serving the community together.

March was a busy and meaningful month at the drop-in center, as we continued to provide consistent support to our unhoused neighbors. Throughout the month, we served a total of 833 hot meals, offering not only nourishment but also a welcoming space where individuals could find connection and community.

One of the most memorable highlights of the month was a special visit from Ken Medema, whose presence brought an incredible sense of joy to the drop-in center. Through his music and heartfelt performance, he created a moment that many of our guests will not soon forget. Several individuals were moved to personally thank him, sharing their appreciation not only for his musical talent but also for his genuine warmth and compassion. It was a powerful reminder of how meaningful connection and kindness can be.

In addition to our weekly meal service, we continued to distribute groceries to seniors and families, adjusting each week as we witness increases mainly to our seniors.

We are deeply grateful to our dedicated staff, volunteers, and partners, especially First Congregational Church of Long Beach, whose continued support makes this work possible. Your generosity and commitment allow us to serve with consistency, dignity, and care.

Thank you for your support Charles! Though February is the shortest month of the year, it certainly felt full. Between seasonal celebrations and community events, it was a month that seemed to move quickly while still keeping us busy.

Throughout the month, we served 640 unhoused guests at our Sunday meals. We also continue to distribute 8–10 grocery bags each week, depending on the number of seniors and families in line. That number has remained steady, though there are weeks when we distribute more, reflecting the ongoing need in our community.

With a mix of cold nights and warm days, we were grateful to welcome our guests indoors each Sunday to relax, enjoy a warm meal, and experience a sense of connection and consistency. We are especially thankful for the continued generosity of FCC, our individual donors, and volunteers who arrive with clothing, hygiene kits, and other much-needed items.

As we move into March and look ahead to spring, we remain grateful for the opportunity to serve and for all who help keep this program going strong.
