Coffee news is brewing in Lone Tree! ☕

At the June 2 City Council Meeting, City Council approved several planning documents for a new Dutch Bros Coffee, including a rezoning, plat amendment, and site improvement plan.

The proposed location is near Park Meadows Drive and Quebec Street, at the north end of the existing Kohl’s parking lot. The approved site plan includes a 1,025-square-foot coffee shop with drive-thru service, a pedestrian walk-up window, three bicycle spaces, and 11 parking stalls.

Construction is expected to begin in 2027.

Emergencies can happen quickly. Taking a few simple steps now can help you, your family, your business, and your neighbors evacuate or respond safely if the need arises.

Here are a few tips to start preparing:

✅ Pack a go bag. Include essentials such as medications, important documents, water, food, a flashlight, batteries, a first aid kit, a radio, hygiene supplies, and basic tools.

✅ Share information with family, friends, and neighbors. Make sure everyone knows how to receive emergency alerts and where to find reliable information during an emergency.

✅ Create an evacuation plan for your household or business. Identify meeting locations and decide how you’ll communicate if you become separated.

✅ Know your routes. Familiarize yourself with multiple ways to leave your neighborhood in case primary roads are closed.

Being prepared helps reduce confusion, supports a faster response, and protects your family when every second counts.

A Symphony of Community

For more than 20 years, the Lone Tree Symphony Orchestra has brought live orchestral music to our community. Founded in 2000 by local musicians, LTSO has grown into an 80+ member ensemble that performs five concerts each season at the Lone Tree Arts Center.

Led by founding Music Director Jacinda Bouton, the orchestra features musicians from across the region who come together to share their passion for music. LTSO also supports the next generation through school mentorship, partnerships with the Douglas County Youth Orchestra, scholarships, and community programs like Mini-Symphony-To-Go and Open Symphony.

From inspiring students to filling the Arts Center with beautiful music, the Lone Tree Symphony Orchestra continues to make the arts accessible, meaningful, and deeply connected to our community.

Aggravated Robbery Case Ends in Swift Arrest

On May 21 at approximately 5:45 p.m., Lone Tree Police officers were dispatched to a local parking lot for a reported robbery in progress.

Through their investigation, officers learned that two men had arranged to meet for the sale of a firearm and were inside one of the vehicles when the incident occurred. During the transaction, the prospective buyer was robbed and assaulted with the firearm by the other individual, who then fled the scene-which was confirmed with video footage.

While investigating, officers located the suspect’s vehicle and initiated a pursuit northbound on I-25. The suspect evaded officers, and an Attempt to Locate was broadcast to surrounding agencies. Within about an hour, the Aurora Police Department located the vehicle and apprehended the suspect. Lone Tree officers responded to the location and took custody of the suspect.

The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the Douglas County Jail. He is facing the following charges:

• Aggravated Robbery (Felony)
• Assault with a Deadly Weapon (Felony)
• Menacing (Felony)
• Possession of a Weapon by a Previous Offender (Felony)
• Vehicular Eluding (Felony)
• Violation of a Protection Order

Thanks to the quick actions of our officers and the outstanding cooperation of the Aurora Police Department, this case was brought to a swift and successful conclusion.
