💙 Behind the Badge September Community Service 💙

This month we’re challenging our Behind the Badge kids to spread a little kindness in our community!

It doesn’t have to be anything big. Help a neighbor, pick up trash, donate some food, help someone who needs it, or just do something nice for someone. Every little act of kindness makes a difference. ❤️

BEHIND THE BADGE SEPTEMBER 💙

September’s Behind the Badge class is all about COMMUNITY SERVICE!

Miss Heather & John & the Laurel county Sheriffs office wants to give back to our community, so instead of having our normal class this month, we are going to go out a to place another Blessing Box! 🫶

Instead of meeting at the Sheriff’s Office, we encourage each Behind the Badge student who normally attends, or any child who would like to participate to go out that day and do something nice for our community!

It doesn’t have to be anything big. Help a neighbor, pick up trash, donate something to someone in need, help with yard work, or simply do something kind for someone else.

We hope our kids will learn that sometimes the smallest acts of kindness can make the biggest difference!

We look forward to seeing all of you guys in October! 💙

Tonight’s Behind the Badge class was absolutely AWESOME! ❤️

Tonight we focused on something that unfortunately affects so many kids, BULLYING. We talked about how to recognize when you’re being bullied, ways to handle the situation and divert it, when it’s important to get a trusted adult involved, and how to help a friend who may be going through it.

We played games, painted kindness rocks, laughed, talked, and most importantly, learned that KINDNESS really does matter in this world. ❤️ Sometimes the smallest act of kindness can make the biggest difference in someone’s day.

Honestly, I think so many kids could benefit from a class like this… and if we’re being honest, I think a LOT of adults could probably use one too! 😂 Tonight was rewarding for all of us, & watching these kids learn, participate, & have fun makes every bit of it worth it.

And now… it’s already time to get ready for September! 👏
📢 SEPTEMBER SIGN-UPS WILL BE THIS FRIDAY AT 5:30 PM! The first 25 kids to sign up will have a secured spot, so make sure you’re ready!

As always, THANK YOU for trusting us with your kids and allowing us to enjoy them each month. They truly make Behind the Badge so special, and we are so thankful for every single one of them!

BEHIND THE BADGE IS TONIGHT!

Just a reminder that tonight is our 8th Behind the Badge event & we are talking about a VERY important topic, ANTI-BULLYING! 🫶🏼

We’ll have some awesome guest speakers joining us to talk to the kids about bullying, standing up for others, being kind, & what they can do if they see someone being bullied. We’ll also have some fun activities planned to go along with tonight’s theme! 💙

If you signed your child up for tonight, please have them at the Sheriffs office by 5:00 PM & be ready for prompt pickup at 7:00 PM.

Now that school is back in session, some of our Behind the Badge nights may be a little shorter! We know our kids are BUSY with school, sports, activities, homework & everything else that comes with a new school year! We want this to be something they look forward to and enjoy, not something that adds more to their busy schedules. ❤️

It’s time to sign up for our August Behind the Badge class!

This month’s focus is Back to School & Anti-Bullying. We’ll be talking about kindness, respect, standing up for others,& ways to help make this school year a positive one for everyone.

📅 Date: Tuesday, August 11
🕔 Time: 5:00 PM-7:00
📍 Location: Laurel County Sheriff’s Office

🚨 The first 25 kids to sign up will secure a spot, so don’t wait!

As always, this program is free, and we can’t wait to spend another fun and meaningful evening with all of our Behind the Badge kids. We look forward to seeing both familiar faces and new ones!

Another Behind the Badge is in the books, & what a great night it was!!! There wasn’t a lesson or a classroom tonight, we just wanted the kids to enjoy their summer, laugh, play, & spend time getting to know each other & some deputies!

Our deputies grilled hamburgers & hot dogs, we played limbo, bowling, blew bubbles,& of course, everyone was waiting for the dunking booth! Sheriff John Root was a great sport & took plenty of dunks before the kids got to climb in the booth & dunk each other. There were smiles, laughter, & soaked clothes everywhere!!

One of my favorite parts of this program is watching kids who were once shy walk right up to a deputy like they’re talking to an old friend. That’s exactly what Behind the Badge is about. We want these kids to know the people behind the badge before they ever need them. We want them to see that these deputies are real people who care about them and this community. We are also so thankful to have partnered with CHI St. Joseph Hospital because those girls have been a lifesaver and such a big help to me!!!

We ended the night by swearing in all of our Junior Deputies, & seeing those little hands raised never gets old.

If you missed tonight, don’t worry. Sign-ups for next month’s Behind the Badge open this Friday at 5:00 p.m. The first 25 kids to sign up will have a guaranteed spot.

Thank you to everyone who came out and made tonight so much fun. We already can’t wait to see everyone again next month!

Just a reminder that Behind the Badge is tonight at 5:00 PM at the Laurel County Sheriff’s office!

If you have your child signed up for tonight‘s class one parent, grandparent, or responsible adult must stay with each child. We’re not sure exactly how long we’ll be there tonight, it may end a little early or run over, so please plan to stay with your child for the duration.

We can’t wait to see everyone tonight… & of course, we’re looking forward to dunking the Sheriff! 😄 See you at 5!

Don’t forget! Behind the Badge Family Fun Night is next Tuesday, July 14, at 5:00 PM! 🎉

We’re so excited for this one! We’ll have a dunking booth, and yes… you’ll have a chance to dunk the Sheriff! 😂

This is a family night, so we ask that a parent or grandparent stay with your child during the event. We’ll have food, outside games, and lots of fun for everyone.

If you have your child signed up & you can’t make it, please send me a message as soon as you can so I can give your child’s spot to someone on our waiting list.
