‼️‼️ALL SPOTS ARE TAKEN‼️‼️Today is sign-up day for our July class!

Yesterday, FaceBook wasn’t cooperating, so sign-ups open NOW!!! The first 25 children signed up will secure a spot.

Please only sign your child up if you are able to attend.

Our class will be held on Tuesday, July 14th. Thank you so much, and we’re looking forward to seeing everyone!

Today is sign-up day for our July class!

Yesterday, FaceBook wasn’t cooperating, so sign-ups will open today at 12:00 PM. The first 25 children signed up will secure a spot.

Please only sign your child up if you are able to attend.

Tonight’s Behind the Badge was such a great night, and we were so excited to welcome nine new students tonight that we had never seen before! The kids had an absolute blast from start to finish.

We started out with different activity stations outside. We had wheelbarrow races, egg races where they had to try not to drop them, hula hoops, beach ball basketball, sponge races, & several other fun games. There was so much laughter & teamwork all evening long.

After all the activities, we took a break to eat pizza together. One of the sweetest parts of the night was when everyone sat in a circle with our bear, “Officer Gratitude,” and each child shared what they were thankful for. Hearing so many of them talk about being thankful for their families and first responders was really special.

We ended the night with a few more games before Sheriff John Root officially made all of the kids junior deputies. The children also got to meet several deputies tonight, & they were absolutely thrilled about that as well. Before everyone left, the children got to tour the sheriff’s office, which they were so excited about.

We are so thankful for the opportunity to spend time with these kids and help them see that law enforcement officers are here for them & always someone they can count on. Nights like this mean so much to all of us. ❤️

Just a reminder that tomorrow from 5-7 at the Sheriffs office is our monthly Behind the Badge Fitness & Team Challenge! 💪🚔

If your child is signed up & you’re unable to make it, please send me a message & let me know so we can offer the spot to someone on the waiting list.

Also, sign-ups for the July class will open Friday around 5:30 PM. The first 25 kids signed up will get a guaranteed spot.

Tomorrow’s class is going to be a blast, & we can’t wait to see everyone there! 😊

Tonight’s Behind the Badge was another huge success! We started the evening with a movie about what to do if you ever get lost in the woods. The kids learned some very important safety tips & what steps to take if they ever find themselves lost.

After the movie, Tammy, our Special Deputy with Forensic K9 Search & Rescue, brought K9 CJ with her & gave an awesome presentation & demonstration on how search dogs help find missing people. She even showed the kids how CJ could locate “lost boy” Jax in the woods! The kids absolutely loved it and learned so much.

Afterwards we enjoyed some pizza, then headed outside where Deputy Justin Taylor, our street-level narcotics deputy, introduced everyone to his K9, Ash. Ash demonstrated how narcotics detection dogs work, & the kids were completely amazed watching him in action!

We finished the night by touring the cruisers, turning on the lights, & letting the kids explore all the equipment. The most special moment of the night was when Sheriff John Root swore all of the kids in as honorary deputies. It was a night these kids will never forget!

Thank you to everyone who helped make tonight possible & to all the families who continue supporting Behind the Badge! A very special thank you to CHI Saint Joseph Hospital for donating flashlights to all the participants tonight!!!

Happy Mother’s Day to all you moms!I hope each & every one of you knows you are doing an amazing job, even on the days you may question yourself. In case no one has told you today…you are appreciated, valued, & loved. ❤️

The Laurel County Sheriff’s office BEHIND THE BADGE, is always been about the kids & as mothers, we all know our children are our number one priority!! Thank you to all the mamas, mamaws, & every family who has trusted us enough to let your child participate in our program. Your support means more than you know.

In uncertain times, we want every child to know how important their relationship with law enforcement truly is. Building trust, guidance, & positive connections with our youth today helps create a stronger community tomorrow.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful women who pour their hearts into raising the next generation!!
