At 10:39 am, East Bernstadt Fire Department was notified of a residential structure fire on Little Arthur Ridge Road. London-Laurel County 911 Center advised that there was entrapment of a child that family members were attempting to get out. Crossroads Fire Department was responding for automatic mutual aid already and EBFD command requested London City Fire Department respond due to them having a staffed paid engine crew ready to respond that could possible arrive quicker. Thankfully first arriving firefighters advised the child was out of the residence and was not injured. All occupants were out of the structure and firefighters were able to get a quick knockdown but unfortunately the structure suffered major damage and the family was displaced. American Red Cross was contacted and are assisting the family. Also assisting on scene was London Laurel County Rescue Squad for their portable air trailer, Ambulance Inc. Of Laurel County, The Laurel County Sheriff's Department, and Jackson Energy London. We are thankful for a positive outcome on this incident that could have been much worse. All agencies are clear of the scene at this time.
