Over the last three days, London Firefighters were proud to participate in Safety Town, helping teach our youngest community members about fire safety and emergency preparedness.

Programs like Safety Town give us the opportunity to connect with children in a positive environment, answer questions, and share important safety lessons that can make a difference in an emergency. From learning about firefighters and fire trucks to understanding what to do if they ever need help, these experiences help build confidence and awareness at an early age.

We are incredibly grateful to be part of events like this and to work alongside our community partners to invest in the safety and education of London’s future generations.

London firefighters spent part of the day operating on the scene of a vehicle fire before heading out to spend time with some of our youngest community members at a local preschool Touch-A-Truck event.

Firefighters had a great time showing the kids our apparatus, equipment, and answering plenty of questions. We always appreciate opportunities to connect with the community we serve, especially the next generation of firefighters!

Today, London firefighters had the opportunity to attend the Madison County Senior Fair and spend time with members of our community, and the surrounding area, discussing important home safety topics. Firefighters spoke with senior citizens about fall prevention, smoke detector safety, and the importance of having working carbon monoxide detectors in the home.

Crews also handed out medical information files that allow residents to document their medical history, medications, emergency contacts, and other important medical information that can assist first responders during emergencies.

Events like this are a great opportunity for our firefighters to connect with the public outside of emergency situations and continue promoting safety throughout our community. We would like to thank everyone who stopped by to speak with us today!

Happy Mother’s Day from the City of London Division of Fire & EMS!

Today we celebrate all the amazing mothers, grandmothers, stepmothers, and mother figures who make sacrifices every single day for their families and communities. Your strength, compassion, and endless support do not go unnoticed.

We especially want to recognize the mothers serving in public safety and the families at home who support our firefighters and EMS personnel through long shifts, missed holidays, and late night calls. Thank you for everything you do.

From our firehouse family to yours, we wish you a safe, happy, and relaxing Mother’s Day!

Today, we recognize National Firefighters Day.

We honor those who came before us and helped build the fire service into what it is today. We remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty giving their lives in service to others. And we stand proud alongside those who continue to answer the call today, serving their communities with courage, dedication, and pride.

This job is more than a career, it’s a commitment to something bigger than ourselves. It’s long nights, tough calls, and showing up when people need us most.

Today, we honor the tradition, the sacrifice, and the brotherhood and sisterhood that make the fire service what it is.
