Growing & Cultivating London, Ohio My name is Patrick J. Closser and I am the Mayor of the great City of London, Ohio.

Born and raised in London, I have enjoyed being a part of a thriving community of caring, down-to-earth people. Wanting to see the City that I love continue to grow, I entered local politics. In 2011, the Madison County Republican Central Committee appointed me to serve on London City Council for Ward 1. In 2012, I was elected to serve a two-year term. In 2014, I was elected to serve as City Counc

il President. I chose to use my many years of local government experience to run for Mayor. I am proud to to have been elected and to have served in this capacity since 2016. In the seven years I have been Mayor, our government has accomplished much. Parks have been revitalized and new playgrounds installed, multiple infrastructure projects have been completed and our community continues to grow. Since 2008, I have been involved in many important community service groups. I have served as chairman for the London Rhythm & RibFest and the London Fourth of July Parade committees for the past 13 years. These committees have helped me improve my leadership skills and allowed me to offer community events that our citizens can be proud of. I have also served on the Boards of the London Community Organization, the Madison County Chamber of Commerce, Community Improvement Corporation and United Way. This important work has made me aware of the community's needs and has enabled me to interact with our citizens. Listening to others' concerns and ideas has taught me that we all must work together to be successful. I did not join these groups for the sole purpose of padding my resume for my political aspirations; I joined these groups because I truly care about the City of London and I wanted to make a difference. I felt it was my civic duty to do what I could to enhance the lives of the citizens of London, Madison County, and the State of Ohio. My experience, community involvement, ideas, and passion make me who I am, and has helped me operate an effective and efficient government. With my proven leadership and proven results, the citizens can count on me in 2024. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns or ideas. After a fantastic halftime performance by THE Pride of London Marching Band the football team picked up where they left off.
Carson Lewis started the second half with a 55 yard kickoff return that resulted in a Touchdown run by Bryston Toronto.

London leads 30-0 over Franklin Heights at the half. Scoring 23 in the second quarter.
To start the second quarter Travion Howard hit the reverse for a 42 yard rushing touchdown. Followed up by an Eli Noble extra point to make it 14-0.
After some more tough defense London kept their offense going. C**t Hughes rattled off a 60 yard run and followed it up with a 16 yard touchdown pass to Isaiah Near. With a penalty on the extra point London went for two and Bryston Toronto punched in the conversion.
London wasn’t finished and with the half winding down C**t Hughes throws a 15 yard touchdown pass to Lucas Goubeaux. Carson Lewis then converted the two point conversion to make it 30 points for the second half running clock.

London leads Franklin Heights 7-0 at the end of the first quarter. On the opening drive London’s defense stepped up with Dreux Prince coming up with a fumble recovery on the 20. The next play C**t Hughes rushed in for the 20 yard touchdown.

Mayor's Update 9.3.26

West 40 Social recently celebrated its ribbon-cutting, and we are excited to welcome another new business to Downtown London. Their opening is another positive sign of the momentum and investment we continue to see throughout our downtown area. With new businesses, events, and continued improvements, there are many great things happening downtown, and it is encouraging to see more opportunities for residents and visitors to gather, shop, dine, and enjoy all that Downtown London has to offer.

We believe businesses such as West 40 Social can play an important role in increasing activity and foot traffic downtown, while also complementing the other businesses already located in the area. Their success, along with the continued growth of our downtown, benefits the entire community and helps create a more vibrant destination for residents and visitors alike.

As West 40 Social begins operations and has submitted a request related to participation in the City’s Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA), we would ask that the Safety Service Committee place their DORA request on an upcoming agenda for review and consideration.

There were some great events this past weekend at Cowling Park. We had our first Music in the Park event and on Saturday the Brighter Path Overdose Awareness event took place. Both events were well attended and people really enjoyed themselves.

Update on Development:
-The road next to the bowling alley, Reagans Ridge, is nearing completion in the London Landing project to help with traffic flow in that housing development.
-The London Landing project continues to be busy with Arbor Homes having bought all the lots except for the last 33 which should be sold in March.
-DR Horton are selling houses quickly in the Johnsons Creek development. They have purchased 79 lots off of the developer and have sold over 50 to customers.
-MI Homes is closing on 65 lots with the developer and will start building soon.
-The roads at Madison Reserve will start going in this month.
-The County is looking to sell their out lots next to Rich Gas for possible retail.
-We continue to work with the County Economic Developer and One Columbus to find a tenant for the old Honeywell building. There has been a lot of interest but nothing has been finalized. I hope we can partner with Jobs Ohio to possibly look at ways to entice companies to purchase the building.

I have spoken with the Madison County Economic Development Director and our Law Director regarding the future sale of the old Police Department building once it has been vacated.
The City intends to facilitate the sale through the Community Improvement Corporation, Madison County Future, Inc. The proposals will be reviewed by the City Properties Committee, which is comprised of two City Council members, two citizens, and one City employee.
The City Properties Committee will review the proposals and provide its recommendation to the Administration. The Administration will make the determination regarding the sale of the property after careful consideration of the recommendation provided by the City Properties Committee.

Now on to the MOLO fun fact which is the number 3. That is how many hours it took to go watch our London Red Raiders varsity football team play this past Friday against Hamilton Heights Indiana. They came home, after a 3-hour ride, victorious winning 37-0. I was able to make the trip with my son and even with the long car ride it was a fun time and many citizens made the trip to Indiana to support these young men.

These funds were originally appropriated last year for renovations to the fire department, and these funds need reappropriated for the current year. -$140,000 to Fire complex / Fire Capital fund reappropriated from 2025

RESOLUTION 168-26 Sponsored by Shannon Treynor An ordinance authorizing elected officials and appointed officials wage adjustments. City Council has determined the City Auditor requires a wage adjustment; and City Council has also determined that the City Auditor salary be increased by 1.5% per year during the next term 2028-2031. City Council has determined any wage adjustments approved should commence January 1, 2028. -$22,500 wage adjustment then 1.5% increase 2028 to 2031

Entering the fourth quarter THE Red Raiders lead 30-0 over Hamilton Heights Indiana.
London started the second half off with a great 30 yard kickoff return by Carson Lewis to put us on the 40. After a long run by by Traivon Howard, Bryston Toronto punched it in to make it 20-0. The Huskies jumped on the extra point and London went for the 2 point conversion. Isaiah Near got in to make it 22-0 then turned around and got an interception a few plays later.
Toronto then punched in another touchdown. The exchange on the extra point was high and Hughes (holder) took off to get the 2 point conversion making the score 30-0.
London continues to wear them down with hard runs while mixing in a few passes.

At the half THE London Red Raiders are up 14-0 over Hamilton Heights Indiana.
London opened the second quarter with a great drive. On a crucial 4th down C**t Hughes got the corner to get us down to the 4 yard line where Dreux Prince punched it in to make it 14-0.
The Huskies came back putting together a drive that ended with a fourth down stop by the Raiders.
