We’re looking for favorite recipes from our community to feature on the Lompoc Food Pantry’s social media.

More than just sharing recipes, we hope this series can help nourish our community with ideas, inspiration, and a little creativity. Maybe your recipe will inspire someone to try something new with ingredients they receive from the Lompoc Food Pantry or introduce a neighbor to a new family favorite.

All recipes welcome! Maybe it’s a family recipe passed down through generations, a dish that’s always a hit at BBQs, a budget-friendly meal your family loves, or a creative way to use pantry staples.

Have a recipe to share? Please send it our way for a chance to be featured. Submit your recipe to us via direct message.

With your permission, we’ll feature your recipe and credit you by first name and last initial. And if you have a photo of the finished dish, we’d love to see that, too!

Good food is better when shared. And so are good ideas. ❤️

September is Hunger Action Month, and we're kicking off a new series called Pantry Education to address the question: What is food insecurity?

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, food insecurity is a household-level economic and social condition of limited or uncertain access to adequate food.

In Lompoc, the food insecurity rate is 26%, which is significantly higher than both the state and national averages.

Sometimes, even a small change in circumstances can make it difficult for a family or individual to keep food on the table.

During Hunger Action Month and beyond, we’ll be sharing information, resources, and ways you can help better understand and address food insecurity right here in Lompoc.

Lompoc, we need your help! Early this morning, someone attempted to damage the security cameras at the Lompoc Food Pantry, and the incident was captured on video.

We’re sharing the footage to raise awareness. Please keep an eye out for suspicious activity around the pantry and, if you see something concerning, please don’t approach or confront anyone - contact the appropriate authorities.

Thank you for helping us protect the pantry and the resources we rely on to serve our community.

A free upcoming community event will help local residents learn practical ways to turn fresh, seasonal produce into nutritious, affordable meals -- while reducing food waste and making the most of the abundance grown in our own agricultural community.

Nourish Lompoc: Saving the Harvest will be held Saturday, Aug. 29, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Dick DeWees Community and Senior Center.

Presented by the Lompoc Hospital District Foundation and Route One Farmers Market, the hands-on event is designed for all ages, with especially useful information for seniors and families looking for simple ways to prepare and preserve fresh foods, stretch food budgets and make healthy eating more manageable.

The event is free, but space is limited and RSVPs are recommended.

Join us this Saturday for our first ever Summer Nourish program!
Space is limited, RSVPs are strongly encouraged.
See you there!
