Lompoc Co-op Development Project

Lompoc Co-op Development Project Our goal is to contribute to a vibrant economy in the Lompoc Valley by assisting in the formation of worker owned and operated cooperatives.

Permanently closed.

The Lompoc Co-op Development Project is working to become an incubator that will create worker owned and operated cooperatives in the Lompoc Valley. LCPD is using the cooperative model as a means to address the current 16% unemployment rate. The group is working under the guidance of the California Center for Cooperative Development. Currently LCDP's goal is to have the first co-op business, green

housecleaning, in operation in October 2012. We hope to plant a new business every year. LCDP recently received a $10,000 grant from the Fund for Santa Barbara and is actively pursuing additional funding through grants and fundraisers. LCDP's goal is to create a vibrant local economy by creating local living wage jobs that will keep both wages and profits in the Lompoc Valley. If you are interested in becoming a part of this process, LCDP meets the third Saturday of each month at 9:00 a.m. in the Valley of the Flowers Church, 3346 Constellation Road. For more information call Bill Mullins, the LCDP chairman, at (805) 735-2376.

Hello Everyone!!
It has been awhile since we have published anything. We have been brainstorming and cooperating with others on what our next Cooperative should be.
In the meantime, this week, we celebrated Green Broom Brigade Cooperative’s 5th year Anniversary!! GBBC has been doing a great job and growing! They now count with 6 worker-owner members and 4 provisionary members. They are growing strong and demonstrating that perseverance is key! Congratulations Green Broom Brigade!!

Lompoc Co-op Developers in Santa Barbara Gives

From among thousands of non-profits Lompoc Cooperative Development Project (LCDP) was chosen to be in the first cohort of forty-four agencies to pilot Santa Barbara Gives. This is a new partnership between the Fund for Santa Barbara and the Santa Barbara Independent newspaper to support non-profits with a year-end fundraising program that’s new to our county hoping to reach more donors and make it easier for them to give at SBGives.org.

The Independent’s special edition of Santa Barbara Gives came out today, November 2 with LCDP and all the organizations profiled. “We’re honored to be part of this new step in giving,” said LCDP Project Coordinator Maria Garcia-Cacique. “Our board secured over $1200 in no time as a challenge grant.” Maria is now busy laying groundwork for a cooperative which will provide child care or senior care in the Lompoc area.

The Fund for Santa Barbara and SB Independent are providing access to an online platform and thereby to the caring Santa Barbara county community with this effort. This will enable non-profit organizations to increase their capacity to work on addressing the needs of the local communities.

Please visit SBGives.org. The mission and the special work these non-profits are doing with the projects chosen for this campaign will inspire us all. After you donate, share it with your social media networks. Santa Barbara Gives! kicks off November 2nd and ends at midnight December 31, 2017 (PST). This is the direct link to LCDP’s SBGives page:

Donors who do not wish to donate online may mail donations to:
Fund for Santa Barbara
Attn: SB Gives!
26 West Anapamu St,
Santa Barbara, CA 93101

Make checks payable to the Fund for Santa Barbara with LCDP on the memo line. Include your address, phone, and email address.

The SBGives campaign will be our annual winter appeal. We could not have this opportunity without your support as it tells the rest of Santa Barbara County that the work LCDP does is making a positive difference in Lompoc.

Thank you for your continued support!! Please share with your contacts!😊
