🚒❤️ Loma Linda Fire Department Celebrates Heart Health Awareness with New Lifesaving Equipment!❤️🚒

LOMA LINDA, Calif. (February 13, 2025) – We are thrilled to announce that thanks to a generous $300,000 grant from the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, the City of Loma Linda has acquired state-of-the-art electrocardiogram (ECG) heart monitors for our Inland Empire first responders.

In recognition of this significant contribution, the Loma Linda Fire Department hosted the "Listen to Your Heart" event during American Heart Month. This engaging demonstration highlighted the lifesaving applications of ECG technology and educated the community on recognizing heart distress signs and the importance of prompt medical assistance.

City Councilwoman Rhonda Spencer-Hwang joined Fire Chief Daniel Harker in acknowledging the impact of this grant on enhancing emergency medical care in our region. Assistant Chief Ralph Tovar of the San Manuel Fire Department emphasized the strength of our partnerships with the American Heart Association and Loma Linda University Health, which are crucial for fostering community health.

“When you call for help early, medics from Loma Linda and San Manuel can use these monitors to determine your transport needs,” said Assistant Chief Tovar. “Listening to your heart can empower you to be your own first responder.”

During the event, attendees witnessed a live demonstration where firefighter medics utilized the new equipment on a simulated heart attack patient. Following this, Dr. Antoine Sakr from Loma Linda University Health led a Q&A session, offering vital insights into heart attack symptoms, especially highlighting differing signs experienced by men and women.

This event embodies the collaborative spirit between the City of Loma Linda and the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, demonstrating our shared commitment to protect and serve our community effectively.

Stay heart-healthy, Loma Linda! ❤️
