The stoplight on E Market in front of Martin's Supermarket is repaired and working properly again. Thank you to everyone for your patience this past week while it was down.

The Logansport Street Department would like to share an update in regards to the flashing stoplight on East Market Street by Martin's Supermarket. Since the problem was initially reported, a week ago, we have hired Michiana Contracting who specializes in stop light repairs. They have replaced several components but unfortunately they have concluded that due to its age and the extent of damage, the only option is to replace the entire traffic box for that stop light. We were able to place the order on Friday for the new box. The lead time is normally 8 weeks but they are willing to expedite our order to get it here as soon as they can. We do not have an anticipated delivery date yet but we know they are getting it to us as quickly as they can. We know this is inconvenient and appreciate everyone's patience and support as we are working to remedy this situation.

Reminder: You must have an approved Dumpster Permit before placing a dumpster on any city street. To apply for a dumpster permit, go to our website, www.cityoflogansport.org and go to the Street Department page. You can then select it from the menu on the left-hand side and print it or you can pick it up at our office at 612 Race Street. When you have completed it, return it to our office. The application is due on Monday by 9am in order to be considered at that week’s Board of Works meeting on Wednesday at 9:30am. If you place the dumpster on your property, you do not need a permit.

Alley grading has began for the year. The North and West sides of town are done and we have began working on the South side alleys. When we have completed the South side, we will begin work on the East end alleys. We are hoping to have them all complete in the next couple weeks, weather permitting.

Street Sweeping began for this year on March 1, 2022. We alternate which side of town we start on each year and this year we began on the East end of town. It takes between 2 and 2 1/2 months to make the first full lap around town. The sweeper can only go between 3 & 5 miles per hour while sweeping. As of March 21st, 308.41 tons of sweepings have been removed from the streets. This is 50 dump truck loads full and an average of 28 tons per day for the 11 days we have been able to be out so far.
