❗️May 30, 2026 - 6:50pm: Power has been restored. Thank you to our teams.

5:05pm: 10 customers remain without power that need additional wire laid. 3 to 4 hours remain for that restoration. Thank you.

3:40om: Power has been restored to roughly 40 additional customers. Crews will be going from transformer to transformer and that will take some time. Thank you to our crews.

3:10pm: 130 customers have been restored. 125 customers in the Fairfax edition remain without power. Crews will continue to work safely and swiftly to restore power.

2:30pm: The electric department is on site of an outage on the east end of town on High Street. Those affected include the Fairfax edition, Longtree Lane, Windsor Forest, Briar Ridge subdivision, and Hartland Hills subdivision. Restoration is expected to occur within the hour. Thank you.❗️

❗️TRAFFIC ALERT❗️Monday, June 1, 2026 - F&K Construction will be closing the 200 block of 4th Street to all vehicles from 6a - 1p due to the ongoing water service line replacement project.

Business fronts will still be accessible by those walking, but there will be no parking or driving on that section of the street. 

F&K is expected to be working in the downtown area for the next month.

Our tree trimming contractor Mint City will be cutting down overgrown areas and potential power outage causing tree limbs near our main electric lines in a neighborhood near the high school starting on Monday, June 1, 2026.

Properties affected include along Usher Street, Parkway, Stadium, Glenway, Lynnwood and Emmet Drives.

Several main pole line routes run behind, on, or between properties. Mint City has been attempting to contact affected residents directly about the project.

Work should be completed in about two weeks.

Chuck is our safety specialist and with safety as our top priority, he has taken the program to the next level with introducing digital data material sheets, monthly safety meetings in all departments, and recently beginning a program to have brief trainings on emergency response plans and necessary protocols for our contractors.

Reminder! YES! These contractors are supposed to be here - helping create a modern, digitized GIS system!

Our contractor NV5 Geospatial will be in our service area again, taking inventory of 22,000 utility poles and more than 300 non-roadside equipment as we move forward compiling data for the new GIS (Geographic Information System.)

NV5 marked vehicles were provided LU logo ID markers and are equipped with specialized equipment to drive the LU electric service area and fly professional-grade drones to log poles and assets not visible from the roads.

The drones will be focused solely on utility infrastructure. The data collected is strictly for documenting electric system assets and improving system reliability and safety.

The new GIS system helps improve outage response and restoration times even more, provide accurate asset management, enhanced infrastructure planning, better long-term system reliability, and improved field access.
