🚨 REMINDER TO THE COMMUNITY 🚨

The City Finance Committee will be meeting tomorrow at 8:30 AM.

If you have questions or concerns regarding the City thinking about not renewing the SAFER Grant, we encourage you to attend and stay informed. This grant currently helps fund three firefighter positions that are critical to maintaining staffing levels and emergency response capabilities for our community.

This meeting is an opportunity to hear directly from city officials, ask questions, and better understand the reasons behind the decision and how it could impact fire protection services in Logan.

An informed community is a stronger community. We encourage anyone interested in the future of public safety in our city to attend.

🚒 Support the Firefighters Who Protect Our Community 🚒
The City of Logan Fire Department is facing a critical decision that could result in the loss of three full-time firefighter positions.
The department has been operating with assistance from the SAFER Grant, a federal program designed to help communities maintain adequate staffing levels to protect residents and visitors. The grant is now up for renewal, but city administration and the Finance Committee have indicated they do not plan to move forward with the renewal.
Under the grant, the City's required contribution would be:
✅ 25% of personnel costs during the first two years
✅ 65% during the third year
Renewing this grant would allow the department to retain three full-time firefighters, maintain staffing levels, and continue providing the high level of emergency response our community expects and deserves.
Every day, Logan firefighters respond to structure fires, vehicle accidents, medical emergencies, technical rescues, and calls for service throughout our community and surrounding areas. Reducing staffing means fewer firefighters available when seconds matter most.
As our community continues to grow and tourism brings millions of visitors to Hocking Hills each year, the demand for emergency services continues to increase—not decrease.
We encourage residents, business owners, and visitors who value public safety to make their voices heard and support efforts to retain these firefighter positions.
Strong staffing saves lives. Protecting our firefighters means protecting our community.
