We had a great time at Camp Day at Union Furnace Elementary School today alongside Starr Township Fire Department.

The kids got to check out the trucks, crawl with some hoses, and spend time talking with members of both departments. It was a fun day and we appreciate the school having us out.

Thanks to everyone who helped make it a great event!

Tonight, Washington Township Fire Department was honored to host the Hocking County Fire Association meeting. We would like to thank special guest speaker Ken Klouda from the Ohio State Fire Marshal’s Office for taking the time to speak with departments throughout the county about grant opportunities and funding resources available to help support our fire service agencies.

We were also honored to have Ohio State Fire Marshal Kevin Reardon in attendance this evening.

Pictured are a few of the fire service leaders from across Hocking County with Ohio State Fire Marshal Kevin Reardon and Chief of Administration Ken Klouda, representing the strong partnerships and support shared throughout the fire service community.

Meetings like these are a great opportunity for departments to share ideas, build relationships, and continue improving the service we provide to our communities.

Today, members of the Washington Township Fire Department stood alongside Athens County departments to pay our respects to a fallen brother.

As the procession passed, we paused to honor his life, his service, and the impact he made on those around him. The fire service is a family, and today we stood together in support of one of our own.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and department during this difficult time.

Rest easy, brother. You will not be forgotten. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸš’

We would like to thank Logan Moose 873 for their generous donation to the Washington Township Fire Department.

With your support, we were able to purchase two Milwaukee scene lights and six Milwaukee handheld lights (with batteries) to improve our safety and visibility on emergency scenesβ€”especially during nighttime operations.

Your support of our department truly makes a difference in our community.

Thank you for helping us continue to serve Washington Township at the highest level!

We are proud to share that we have been awarded a grant from the Hocking Hills Tourism Association, which funded the purchase of a new Polaris Ranger side-by-side for our department.

This unit will significantly improve our ability to respond to:

πŸ”₯ Brush fires
πŸš‘ Medical emergencies in remote areas
🌲 Trail rescues and off-road incidents
🚨 Emergencies in rough or hard-to-access terrain

With the number of visitors that come to the Hocking Hills region each year, having equipment designed for rugged terrain allows us to respond faster and more effectively when minutes matter most.

We would also like to extend a sincere thank you to Patrick Mann and Tracy Mann for their time and effort in preparing the paperwork and assisting with the grant application process. Your work behind the scenes made this possible.

We are incredibly grateful to the Hocking Hills Tourism Association for supporting local first responders and investing in the safety of our residents and visitors.

Thank you for helping us better serve Washington Township and our community.

Please Share. There was already a decent number of brush fire calls yesterday.
