A bittersweet moment captured at the Lodi Memorial Day Parade. 🇺🇸

In this photo stands two men who together represent 45 years of service as Lodi Police Chief. One served the community for 28 years before retiring in 2009, while the other has led for the past 17 years and will be retiring later this summer.

No matter the years or the changes over time, their shared dedication to protecting and serving the Village of Lodi has left a lasting impact on this community.

Today, on Memorial Day 2026, the Lodi Police Department pauses alongside our entire village to honor the service members of the United States armed forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation. We stand united with the American people to remember their courage and dedication to duty.

We must never forget that the liberties we enjoy here in Lodi and across the country were secured through the final full measure of devotion given by countless brave men and women. Their legacy is the very foundation of our freedom, and we hold their memory in the highest regard.

We ask our neighbors to take a moment today, amid your gatherings with family and friends, to reflect on the true meaning of this national observance and to remember those who gave their tomorrows for our today. We wish everyone in the Lodi community a safe and reflective Memorial Day.

As our community gathers to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country, we kindly ask everyone attending the Memorial Day Parade to remember the true meaning of the day. 🇺🇸

Please stand respectfully as the flags and veterans pass by. Remove hats, place your hand over your heart during the National Anthem, and pause conversations during memorial services and moments of silence. Most importantly, help teach our younger generations the importance of honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

Memorial Day is more than a parade — it is a day of remembrance, gratitude, and respect. Thank you for helping us preserve the dignity and meaning of this important tradition for our community.

We look forward to honoring our heroes together.

COMMUNITY BRIEFING: STATE-LED INVESTIGATION SEIZES ILLEGAL GAMBLING MACHINES 🚔⚖️

The Lodi Police Department is providing additional details and news article link regarding a state-led law enforcement operation that took place, Thursday, May 21, 2026, targeting illegal gambling operations within Medina County.

The Investigation & Lead Agency
The Ohio Casino Control Commission (OCCC) was the sole lead investigative agency spearheading this operation. Following an independent, extensive probe into unregulated gaming houses, OCCC agents requested the assistance of local law enforcement to safely secure the scenes and execute search warrants at the targeted businesses.

The Lodi Police Department acted in a supporting role, assisting state agents with the ex*****on of the warrant within our jurisdiction in the Village.

Operation Locations
Simultaneous search warrants were executed by state agents and assisting local agencies at two county businesses:

122 1/2 Ainsworth Street within the Village of Lodi

&

230 Center Street within the Village of Seville

The Seizures
The state-led operation successfully shut down both locations. In total, OCCC agents, with local assistance, seized:
* Approximately 40 illegal slot machines / electronic gaming devices
* Unlawful cash proceeds
* Associated gaming components and operational documentation

LPD assisted on-scene by processing evidence and dismantling the mechanical components of the illegal machines for secure transport.

Upholding the Law
Unregulated gambling operations lack consumer protections and violate Ohio law. The Lodi Police Department is always ready to assist our state law enforcement partners to ensure our community remains safe and our local businesses operate within the law.

Any subsequent criminal charges stemming from this investigation will be handled by the Ohio Casino Control Commission and reviewed by the Medina County Prosecutor's Office.

The Ohio Casino Control Commission said Thursday it seized 40 illegal gaming machines from two Ohio businesses.

JOINT OPERATION LEADS TO SEIZURE OF ILLEGAL GAMING MACHINES 👮‍♂️🚫💰

On Thursday, May 21, the Lodi Police Department, in coordination with the Ohio Casino Control Commission and local law enforcement partners, executed search warrants at two separate locations within Medina County—one at 122 1/2 Ainsworth Street here in the Village of Lodi, and a second at 230 Center Street in Seville.

The joint investigation resulted in the successful seizure of approximately 40 illegal slot machines, cash, and related gaming components. Sgt. Shane Sams and Sgt. Ashlee Miller are pictured here processing evidence and dismantling the components of the illegal machines.

We want to thank the Ohio Casino Control Commission and our fellow county law enforcement partners for their invaluable teamwork in this operation. The Lodi Police Department remains dedicated to upholding the law and keeping our community safe.
