🚨 **HEAT ADVISORY: FRIDAY – SUNDAY** 🚨
The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for our region this weekend. Extreme heat and humidity are on the way, please take these quick precautions to stay safe and avoid heat injury:

πŸ’§ **Hydrate:** Drink plenty of water *before* you feel thirsty.

πŸ₯΅ **Limit Outings:** Stay indoors during peak heat (10 AM – 4 PM) if possible.

🌳 **Take Breaks:** If you must be outside, rest frequently in the shade.

🐾 **Protect Pets:** Keep animals indoors and never leave anyone in a parked car.

Check on your neighbors, know the signs of heat exhaustion, and let's look out for each other this weekend!
Be safe!

πŸš‘ Final Testing Underway

Today marked practicals day for our EMT class, the final step before graduation. Ambulances were out and about as students worked through realistic patient scenarios, putting their training to the test in real-world conditions.

Next up is the written National Registry exam, followed by time in the field. Once certified, each new EMT will be paired with a senior member for additional mentoring before being cleared to serve as a provider.

πŸš‘ Future EMTs Ready to Serve

The first EMT class of 2026 is getting ready to graduate. It truly takes a village to train the next generation of EMS providers, and we’re proud of the team effort behind this group.

Pictured are our students, Lead Instructor Len Mascaro, and several rescue squad members who supported the class along the way.

πŸš’πŸš‘ Shred Event Success

A big thank you to The Licata Group Real Estate, the driving force behind today’s annual Shred Event. Their continued investment in the community β€” including providing the shred truck β€” is what makes this event possible each year.

Lake of the Woods Fire & Rescue was proud to assist with the heavy lifting, supporting traffic flow, safety, and day‑of operations.

Events like this help residents safely dispose of sensitive documents, reduce clutter, and lower fire load risks in the home.

Thanks to everyone who came out and participated β€” together, the event raised over $3,000 in donations benefiting Lake of the Woods Fire & Rescue.

πŸš‘ Supporting Our Community Partners

Members of Lake of the Woods Volunteer Fire & Rescue, including Medic 292, were out supporting our community partners at the Living Water Community Clinic’s annual Health Fair.

Events like these are a great opportunity to connect with the community and support access to care and resources for our residents.

🐣 Holiday Safety Reminder

As families gather this week, here are a few quick tips to help keep everyone safe:

πŸ”₯ With elevated spring fire risk, avoid outdoor burning during restricted hours
🍳 Stay with grills and cooking since most home fires start in the kitchen
πŸ‘€ Keep a close eye on kids around candles, cooking, and hot surfaces

Enjoy the holiday and stay safe πŸš’πŸš‘
