πŸ’™πŸ’› Law Enforcement Civilian Personnel Appreciation Week πŸ’›πŸ’™

This week, the Lockport Police Department proudly recognizes and celebrates Law Enforcement Civilian Personnel Appreciation Week.

While police officers are often the most visible members of our department, many of the essential services we provide to our community would not be possible without the dedicated civilian professionals working behind the scenes every day.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to our Records Specialists and Community Service Officer, whose professionalism, dedication, and commitment help keep our department operating efficiently and effectively. From assisting residents, managing records, supporting investigations, coordinating services, and ensuring critical administrative functions are completed, their contributions are invaluable to our mission.

Their hard work often occurs out of the public eye, but their impact is felt throughout our department and the community we serve.

Please join us in thanking our civilian personnel for their continued service, dedication, and commitment to the City of Lockport.

πŸ‘ Thank you for all that you do!

πŸ”₯πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ Guardians of the Flame πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ”₯

On Friday, members of the Lockport Police Department were honored to attend the kickoff event for the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) at Soldier Field in Chicago, the birthplace of Special Olympics and home of the Eternal Flame of Hope.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run is the largest public awareness and fundraising movement for Special Olympics, bringing together law enforcement officers and Special Olympics athletes from across the country in support of inclusion, determination, and the power of sport. This year's Torch Run is especially historic, featuring the first-ever coast-to-coast Final Leg in USA Games history as the Flame of Hope begins its journey to the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games in Minnesota.

The Lockport Police Department is proud to stand alongside our law enforcement partners and Special Olympics athletes as we continue our commitment to supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities through fundraising, awareness, and community engagement.

We wish all of the Guardians of the Flame a safe journey as they carry the Flame of Hope across America and into the Opening Ceremonies of the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games.

πŸ’™πŸ’› Thank you to everyone who supports the Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run and Special Olympics Illinois throughout the year. Together, we are helping create a more inclusive world for all.

πŸšΈπŸ’™ Thank You, Lockport Crossing Guards! πŸ’™πŸšΈ

As another school year comes to a close, the Lockport Police Department would like to recognize and thank our dedicated crossing guards for their outstanding service and commitment to the safety of our students.

Rain or shine, hot or cold, our crossing guards have faithfully reported for duty each day, helping children safely navigate some of our busiest intersections, including 9th Street & 7th Street and 9th Street & Madison Street. Their presence provides peace of mind to parents, school staff, and our community while ensuring students arrive safely to and from school.

Being a crossing guard is more than just stopping traffic. It's building relationships with students, serving as a positive role model, and helping create a safer community for everyone.

On this last day of school, we extend our sincere appreciation for the dedication, professionalism, and care our crossing guards have shown throughout the year. Your hard work does not go unnoticed, and we are grateful for everything you do to keep Lockport's children safe.

Please join us in thanking our crossing guards for another successful school year! πŸ‘πŸšΈπŸ’™

Although Memorial Day has passed, the Lockport Police Department would still like to take a moment to recognize and honor the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten.

Throughout the month of May, Lockport Police Department squad cars proudly displayed special Armed Forces patches as a tribute to all who have served and continue to serve our nation. These patches were a small way for our department to show appreciation and remembrance for the sacrifices made by our military members and their families.

We also want to extend our gratitude to all veterans, active-duty military personnel, and Gold Star families. Your service and sacrifice continue to inspire us each and every day.

While the Memorial Day weekend may be over, our remembrance and appreciation for our nation’s heroes continues year-round.
