March is Self-Harm Awareness Month
Many children and teens living in domestic violence situations carry pain that others may never see. For some young people, self-harm can become a way to cope with overwhelming fear, trauma, or feelings they don’t yet have the words to expresss.

This month, we encourage our community to help break the stigma around self-harm and mental health. Listening without judgment, believing young people, and connecting them with support can make a life-changing difference.

February 19th would have been Mom's 70th birthday.

As it approaches I think of all the things I would have wanted to plan and do for her.

So instread of being sad that I cannot spent the day with her, to celebrate her and all the love she gave to everyone, we are working together with DSWD Fosters Hope and Foster Love to assemble 55 "Sweet Cases" and Teen Duffle bags for children going into foster care. Through this partnership, we will be providing these bags that will allow these kiddos to have something of their own to carry their belongings as they navigate this long road, to 2 separate foster care organizations in Illinois and Indiana.

If you would like to purchase items from our Wishlist, please see the link below, click the DONATE button on our page or visit our website to donate via PayPal.

Thank you for helping us celebrate my mom in this way!

Have a great rest of the week!

February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month.
Love shouldn’t hurt. 🧡

Let's talk about warning signs you can look for in yourself, your child or a friend:

Control & isolation
Checking their phone or demanding passwords.
Tracking location or monitoring social media.
Pressuring them to stop seeing friends or family.

Physical & sexual warning signs
Unexplained bruises or injuries
Pressuring or forcing sexual activity
Ignoring boundaries or consent

How to help;
Listen without judgment — let them talk at their own pace
Believe them — abuse is never their fault
Say you’re concerned, not critical (“I’m worried about you”)
Encourage support from a trusted adult, counselor, or hotline
Help them make a safety plan if they feel unsafe

Love shouldn’t hurt. 🧡

A little late in posting but the last week has been super busy! Our 4th Annual Holiday Shopping Spree provided gifts, clothing, coats, shoes, decor and books to 97 kids from 32 families! We were so blessed to have amazing volunteers, a beautiful space to get organized and to have the event (FREE!!), so many generous donations from our Wish List and through our website as well as other non-profits donating food, coats, bedding, toys and even 4 Queen sized mattresses that we raffled off to our families! This was the BEST event so far in the 4 years of our organization and I know that my mom could not have been more proud of the good work we did this year!

Now I will be taking some time to enjoy my family and prepare for our new granddaughter to come in January! Thank you as always to everyone that supports our mission and keeps the generous spirit that was my mother alive in our hearts as we do this good work!

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a very Blessed New Year to you all!
With love and all my gratitude,
Jennefer

We are so excited for our 4th Annual Holiday Shopping Spree! We were blessed to have the event space donated to us which will allow us to provide even more items to our registered families. New connections in our community are bringing families that have been effected by varying forms of violence to us to assist with granting wishes, and providing some necessities such as warm weather clothing and hygiene items, this holiday.

Should you wish to donate, please see attached the flyer for our Amazon Wishlist QR code, use the Donate button on our page or website, or for donation drop off or pick up, please contact me directly.

Also, we are in need of volunteers for Saturday, December 6th (2 pm until 5) for set up and Sunday, December 7th for the event (9am to 3pm) in Frankfort. Service hours provided!

Thank you as always for believing in us and keeping the love and joy my mom had for others in everyone's heart!

Love and appreciation,
Jennefer

NOTE: For the safety and privacy of our registered families, this is a private event and does require direct referral from a social service agency, governmental agency or nonprofit organization. Please do not post event details in any public area as we get flooded with calls for assistance for those outside our mission of support for children and teens effected by violence and I have a hard time saying no.
