The former bar building located at 838 N. Pecos Street is scheduled for demolition beginning Tuesday, June 16, through Thursday, June 18.

To ensure public safety during the demolition process, N. Pecos Street between Mesquite Street and Tank Street will be closed to traffic. A signed detour route will be in place to help motorists safely navigate around the work area.

Residents and drivers are encouraged to plan for possible delays and use alternate routes when traveling in the area. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as this property is removed.

๐ŸšงVarious temporary road closures for Chisholm Trail Homecoming Rodeo & Parade
First closure will be Downtown on Wednesday, June 10 from 4:30am to noon for the Cowboy Breakfast. Main Street from W Market St and East San Antinio St. See map below.

City Park Temporary Road Closures
Starting Thursday, June 11 afternoon until Sunday morning, Carver Street and Scheh Street will be closed down for the Chisholm Trail Homecoming Rodeo Event. The Lockhart City Park will also be closed during this time.

Parade Road Closure Information
Residents can expect closures, delays and detours to begin on Saturday, June 13, 8 am until 11am. This will be San Antonio Street from San Jacinto to Downtown. Maple Street will also be closed to through traffic from City Line to San Jacinto for parade staging. See the map below.

The department was recognized by the American Planning Associationโ€™s Small Town and Rural (STaR) Planning Division for excellence in planning and community development for the Lockhart Looking Forward Comprehensive Plan. The 2026 award winners were announced during the National Planning Conference in Michigan.

This national recognition reflects the collective hard work, dedication, and vision of our community residents and business owners, appointed board and commission members, and elected officials who generously invested their time and expertise throughout this planning process. ๐Ÿ“ฃREMINDER: OUTDOOR WARNING SIREN TEST TODAY AT 1 P.M.
The 5-siren outdoor warning system will be used to alert Lockhart residents of impending severe weather and/or chemical emergencies. Activation criteria for the City of Lockhart includes;

โ€ข The U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) issues a Tornado Warning.
โ€ข The National Weather Service (NWS) issues a Severe
Thunderstorm Warning and indicates the potential for
destructive winds of 70 mph or greater.
โ€ข Observed hail of 1.5 inches in diameter (ping pong ball) or
greater.
โ€ข Any observed weather condition, which is judged to be
hazardous to people and early warning would potentially save
lives.

This notification system is developed for Central Texas and administered by the Capital Area Council of Governments (CAPCOG). The warning system will notify citizens of Lockhart by phone call, text or email for emergencies such as: tornados, severe weather, flooding, and local emergency information.
