06/17/2026

We've had some recent incidences of Police/Fire/EMS being enroute to emergency calls and folks driving other vehicles not paying attention or not knowing what to do when an emergency vehicle running code (Lights and Sirens) is approaching them in any direction.

There's really one simple rule that applies...it's the common denominator for every situation. That is to PULL OVER and STOP.

This rule applies whether the emergency vehicle is coming up behind you or heading toward you.

To be more specific, we've recently had vehicles coming toward us (Police/Fire/EMS) when we're trying to make a left turn that don't stop. This becomes dangerous for all involved and, should a crash happen before the emergency vehicle arrives to the location of the call, it could affect the lives of others as well.

Please pay attention - check your mirrors frequently - don't slam on your brakes if emergency vehicles are coming up behind you - stay clear of all intersections/side streets - Slow Down - Pull Over - Stop.

The Llano County Sheriff’s Office is notifying the public of a confirmed rabies incident involving a cat at Black Rock Park.

On Sunday, June 7, 2026, at approximately 7:32 a.m., two male guests reported being bitten by a gray cat while visiting the park. On Monday, June 8, 2026, an additional report was received indicating that a female guest had also been bitten by the same cat.

The cat was located deceased by Animal Control on June 8, 2026, and was submitted for rabies testing. On June 11, 2026, test results confirmed that the cat was positive for rabies.

All three known bite victims sought medical treatment and began rabies post-exposure treatment on the day of the incident.

Park staff are working to identify any additional individuals who may have had contact with the animal. Black Rock Park has contacted guests who visited the park during the weekend of June 6–7 to determine whether any additional exposures occurred.

Important Information
• The rabid cat was gray in color.
• Several black-and-white cats that reside on the property have current rabies vaccinations and are not believed to be involved in this incident.
• Anyone who may have had contact with, been scratched by, or been bitten by a gray cat at Black Rock Park on or around June 7, 2026, should immediately contact their healthcare provider and local health authorities for guidance regarding rabies exposure.

Rabies Information
Rabies is a serious viral disease that affects the nervous system and is almost always fatal once symptoms develop. Prompt medical evaluation and treatment following a potential exposure are highly effective in preventing illness.
