Last night got a little...western. The weather got out of hand pretty quick, and it was very early on when the power went off. Below is a video that was taken right before 3:00am when the connection was made that brought all the electricity back.

We are thankful for this LCRA crew who were away from their families last night getting everything back up and running for us here in Llano.

There was excellent cooperation between LVFD, Llano Police Department, Llano County Sheriff's Office, Llano Country Road & Bridge, TXDOT, and LCRA. All the major traffic lights were covered with fire trucks, and crews were driving around late into the night to check low water crossings for emergency access.

Looks like the rain is, yet again, on its way. With all the moisture already in the ground, it won’t take much for low water crossings to start filling up. If there’s water over the road, it’s not worth it. . Pay attention to all weather watches and warnings.

A Flood Watch has been issued which includes the I-35 corridor, Hill Country and southern Edwards Plateau. Rain amounts generally from 1-3 inches with pockets up to 5 inches are expected which could quickly lead to flooding due to recent rainfall. There is potential for rapid, life-threatening flooding of rivers, creeks, and low-lying areas today into Wednesday morning. Have a way to receive warning information!

LVFD Chief David Gilliland, Councilwoman Kara Gilliland, LPD Lt. Les Hartman, and LVFD Firefighter Waylon Hibbitts at the Llano River Golf Course for the Mike and Angela Allred Memorial Benefit golf tournament.

Proceeds go to benefit the kiddos involved in the Dauber and Yellow Jacket Band programs. Scholarships, band camp tuitions, the list goes on and on.

Mike and Angela were very special folks to a bunch of us here in Llano County and it gives us great pleasure to be a part of something so special.

LVFD is honored to give away three scholarships this year to the graduates of the Class of 2026! Koda Wagner and Julie Lee are the recipients of the Beverly Harden Memorial Scholarship and Lizzie Hartman is the recipient of the 373 Award, which is an award in honor of the late LVFD FF #373, Andy Taylor.

We are proud to award these young ladies and wish them the best in their endeavors.

This is a picture from a call we responded to out in Blufton around midnight.

We share this not to make light, or point fingers, but merely to point out that it doesn’t take much water to stall out a vehicle. It’s hard to see in the picture, but the water is only around 2 feet deep, and this crossover SUV stalled out in it.

Thankfully, no one was injured, but the car did need to be pulled out with a winch. If the water was any higher or faster, this could have been a lot worse. Not only do you put your life in danger, but if this had turned into a high water rescue, it also means that someone else has to get in the water.

Friends, we know you want to get home, or to wherever you are going, but it is not worth it to cross high water crossings with water over the road. We care about our community, and want you to be safe.

As the saying goes, “Turn Around. Don’t Drown!”

LVFD is thankful to Tow Vfd for aiding us in the recovery of the vehicle.

Storms are looking to build this afternoon into the evening. Time frame is 6-9pm for most active. Make sure you are staying up to date with the US National Weather Service Austin-San Antonio Texas and our local station Stinger FM.

The largest threats are wind and possible large hail.

Yesterday LVFD and LCSO, among others, honored the memory of one of our own, Andy Taylor who was killed in the line of duty 21 years go. Gone but not forgotten.

Rest easy, 752.
