PROMOTION ANNOUNCEMENT

We are pleased to announce the promotion of Adam Guerrero to the rank of Lieutenant.

Lieutenant Guerrero will oversee the operations of the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) and provide leadership and direction for major investigative functions, including murder investigations, burglary, fraud, narcotics investigations, and special investigations. He will provide guidance and supervision to CID personnel, ensuring investigations are conducted thoroughly, professionally, and in accordance with Llano County Sheriff's Office standards.

This promotion reflects Lieutenant Guerrero’s experience, leadership, dedication, and commitment to both the Sheriff's Office and the community we proudly serve.

Missing Person Found Safe Along the Llano River

At approximately 12:54 a.m. this morning, the Llano County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 emergency call regarding a missing person from San Antonio who was camping along the Llano River near Elmer Road in Llano County.

LCSO deputies responded to the area and gathered information and identification regarding the missing individual. Deputies initiated a search of the surrounding area, including the deployment of an LCSO drone. Additional LCSO deputies and search teams continued searching the area as additional resources were enroute.

At approximately 7:15 am, the LCSO drone pilot located the individual in the Llano River and directed ground search teams to his location. LCSO deputies located the individual, who was not injured. He advised deputies that he was unfamiliar with the area and had become lost and disoriented due to the darkness.

The individual was evaluated by Hamilton EMS and was found to be safe.

The Llano County Sheriff’s Office commends the LCSO deputies involved for their quick response, coordinated search efforts, and use of the department’s drone technology in safely locating the missing individual.

UPDATE: LCSO Domestic Violence Investigation in Kingsland

On August 6, 2026, the Llano County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic disturbance in the 1800 block of Greenwood Lane in Kingsland.

The families of all individuals involved have been notified. The male suspect has been identified as Mackey Bolinger, who was transported by air ambulance to Dell Seton Medical Center in Austin, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

An active Emergency Protective Order (EPO) had been issued on July 18, 2026. The female victim in the August 6, 2026 assault was the protected person named in that order. Her identity is being withheld to protect her privacy.

Llano County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Domestic Violence Incident in Kingsland

This evening at approximately 7:20 p.m., deputies with the Llano County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 1800 block of Greenwood Drive in Kingsland in reference to a reported disturbance.

Upon arrival, deputies heard a female in distress inside the residence. Moments later, deputies heard a single gunshot and immediately made entry into the home.

Inside the residence, deputies located an adult female who was emotionally distraught and an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. Based on the initial investigation, it appears the female had been assaulted prior to the male sustaining what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The female was transported by ground ambulance to an area hospital for treatment. The male was transported by air ambulance to an area hospital for treatment. The identities of both individuals are being withheld pending notification of all family members.

At this time, investigators believe this was an isolated incident, and there is no danger to the public.

This investigation remains active. Investigators are processing the scene, conducting interviews, and gathering evidence. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Llano County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Department of Public Safety continue Aggressive Narcotics Enforcement Efforts

The Llano County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division, has continued aggressive enforcement efforts targeting the distribution of illegal narcotics throughout Llano County.

Over the past several weeks, investigators have conducted multiple narcotics investigations that resulted in the arrest of several individuals and the seizure of illegal drugs, fi****ms, and equipment used in the manufacture and distribution of controlled substances.

The following individuals were arrested on narcotics-related charges:
Calvin Taylor
Korey Rogers
Ashley Mahan
Ruthanne Bennett

Items seized during these investigations include:
Methamphetamine: 419.96 grams
Fentanyl: 25.87 grams
Xanax: 49.02 grams
Ma*****na: 1.38 ounces
Multiple fi****ms

These investigations remain ongoing. The Llano County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to working alongside our law enforcement partners to identify, investigate, and prosecute those responsible for distributing illegal narcotics in our community. We appreciate the continued support of our citizens as we work to keep Llano County safe.

Current status of Kingsland Slab Road, officially known as RM 3404 and CR 307. Temporarily closed.

The Kingsland Slab Road, officially known as RM 3404 and CR 307, was reportedly damaged in the recent flooding of the Llano River and is currently closed to through traffic. The popular low-water crossing will likely remain closed for weeks.

Llano County Sheriff Marquis Cantu appointed as SAT Region 5 Director

Sheriff Cantu represented Llano County at the Sheriffs' Association of Texas 148th Annual Training Conference in Fort Worth.

At the conference, Sheriff Cantu was appointed by the Sheriffs’ Association of Texas to serve as the Region 5 Director, representing the sheriffs of Central Texas. Llano County is one of 50 counties in the Central Texas Region.

Sheriff Cantu is honored to serve in this leadership role and represent both the Sheriffs’ Association of Texas and the citizens of Llano County. He remains committed to working alongside sheriffs from across the state to strengthen law enforcement, promote collaboration, and support the communities they serve.

On July 11, 2026, the Llano County Sheriff’s Office executed a residential search warrant on Atkinson Loop in Kingsland, resulting in the seizure of a significant quantity of illegal narcotics and the arrest of one suspect.

During the operation, investigators recovered:
• 80.8 grams of Xanax
• 100.1 grams of Methamphetamine
• 6.3 grams of Fentanyl

Investigators also located numerous items of narcotics-related equipment believed to be used in the manufacturing and distribution of illegal drugs, as well as illegal weapon accessories.

The suspect, BAO HUYNH, is currently in custody. The investigation remains active and ongoing.

Additionally, investigators are conducting an ongoing investigation into reports of family violence and kidnapping associated with the residence.

The Llano County Sheriff’s Office remains steadfast in its commitment to aggressively enforcing laws against violent crime and narcotics trafficking that threaten the safety and well-being of our community.
