Good Afternoon LPS Staff and Community,
We had the opportunity to consult with reports from local meteorologists this afternoon and were given the forecast for the next 48-72 hours.

Our area is currently under a Cold Weather Advisory, issued when the weather is -15 to -25 below zero, including wind chill (“real feel” temps). This advisory is in place today through Wednesday afternoon. We were told that the forecast has been consistent and stable at these temperatures and that there is a high level of confidence in the forecasted weather.

Based on the information provided, we will be closing all Livonia Public Schools on Tuesday, January 21, and Wednesday, January 22, 2025. Students being exposed to the frigid weather while walking to and from school, or to and from bus stops, including wait time at stops, places them at risk. Both days are being announced now in order to allow parents to plan for the two-day closure.

We hope your family remains safe and warm, especially when going outdoors.
