Livonia AIR (Adaptive Inclusive Recreation) offers events for individuals with special needs and their families. Come enjoy a great movie, popcorn, and time together with friends. Caregivers are strongly encouraged to attend.

Young musicians in Livonia and the surrounding area are invited to join the Livonia Youth Symphony Orchestras of Michigan as they begin their fall season on Sept. 26.

For more than 65 years, this nonprofit youth music organization has provided young musicians throughout Southeast Michigan with opportunities to learn, perform, and grow under the guidance of professional conductors. Rehearsals are held Saturday mornings at Madonna University, with two concerts presented each year.

Programs are available for musicians at a variety of experience levels, including Beginner Strings, Simply Strings, and the Philharmonic full orchestra. The Philharmonic welcomes middle school, high school, and college musicians, as well as adult mentors interested in performing alongside young musicians.

Join us from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, for the Fall Flea Market. With more than 160 vendors offering vintage and unique finds, there’s plenty to explore. Admission is $3 for those 12 and older; children 11 and younger are free. Please bring cash. No ATM is available.

Free parking is offered at the Special Events lot on Newburgh Road and the Farm Complex lot on Victor Parkway, both just south of Eight Mile Road. Pets are not allowed at this event.

Vendor spots are sold out, and any outreach from unofficial channels is a scam. Vendor spots are non-transferable. Please report suspicious activity you see on our socials.

The ninth Annual Good Old-Fashioned Neighborhood Corn Roast is almost here! Join us on Sunday, Sept. 13, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Bicentennial Park for an afternoon filled with great food, fun activities, and community spirit. Groups from across Livonia are coming together to make this event special, and several local elected officials will be joining us as well. As always, the Livonia Lions Club will be roasting the corn, and the Livonia Rotary Clubs will be serving refreshments. It’s a wonderful chance to meet neighbors, connect with community organizations, and enjoy one of Livonia’s cherished traditions. Let’s celebrate together! Find this event on our community calendar.

Greenmead staff and volunteers are diligently working to prepare for our Fall Flea Market this Sunday. If you have items in good condition that you would like to donate to Greenmead for sale at the Friends Meeting House, volunteers will be continuing set up Friday morning. Items may be dropped off directly to the Friends Meeting House porch. Items we do not accept include large furniture pieces, electronics, clothing, shoes, knives/weapons, and broken/poor condition items.

Our Candy-Go-Round will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, and we want you!

You don't need to pay to host a booth, and it will get you right in front of hundreds of families.

Kid Quarters will be temporarily relocated to Activity Room 1 during the morning on Wednesday, Sept. 9; Thursday, Sept. 10; and Friday, Sept. 11 due to outdoor construction in the Kid Quarters area. This temporary move helps ensure children remain safe while work is underway. Kid Quarters will return to its regular location each evening.

Calling all local organizations, businesses and families!

It might seem early, but spots are already filling!

Deck the halls at the Kirksey Recreation Center this December by bringing your own indoor Christmas tree and shatterproof decorations to create a festive display for the community to enjoy throughout the holiday season.

Participants provide their own tree and decorations, while extension cords and electricity are provided by the Recreation Center. Once setup is complete, staff will connect the trees. Then, let the holiday competition begin! The public will vote for their favorite tree, with one winner crowned at each participating location. Space is limited and dwindling already, so sign up early! Participation is free!

Decor will be up Dec. 1-29.

City of Livonia offices, all branches of Livonia Public Library, Greenmead Historical Park, the Civic Park Senior Center and the 16th District Court will be closed on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 7. The Kirksey Recreation Center will be open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be NO trash collection on Labor Day. Trash collection services will be delayed one day for the rest of the week.
