She’s already an avid reader and a familiar face around our library, but today was extra special—she finally got her very own library card! 🥰📖

We love watching young readers grow, discover new stories, and make the library their own. Here’s to many more books and adventures ahead! ✨📚

Millard Oakley Public Library

The Millard Oakley Library will be closed on Monday, September 7, for the Labor Day holiday.
The Friends of the Library will meet this Thursday, August 20, at 4:30. This organization assists the library in so many ways, from purchasing new books, providing snacks for story time, teen night, and adult bingo, and holding a quarterly book sale. They are always looking for new members who are willing to help make our library great. Everyone is welcome to the meeting to come and see how much this organization helps our community.
Teen Night will be August 25, from 4:00 until 6:00. This month all Overton County teens ages 13 to 18 are welcome to come in and play bingo for prizes. Refreshments will be provided.
New books at the library include “Road Trip” by Mary Kay Andrews, “The Dead Ringer” by Dane Bahr, “The Greenhorn” by John Deacon, “Betrayal Road” and “Twisted Road” by Christine Feehan, “Love You More” by Emily Giffin, “Killing Moon” and “The Thirst” by Jo Nesbo, “Faithful of Heart” and “A Life So True” by Tracie Peterson, “Twisted Pawn” by L. J. Shen, and “The Prodigal Daughter” by Isabella Valeri.

🎉 A HUGE Thank You to Our Senior Bingo Sponsor! 🎉

We want to send a very special thank you to Quality Home Health and Hospice for sponsoring our Senior Bingo! 💙 Your generosity helped make the day extra special, and everyone absolutely loved the delicious cotton candy you made for us! 🍭✨ It was such a fun treat and definitely a hit!

We also want to give a big CONGRATULATIONS to Ms. Feathers, our Grand Prize Winner! 🏆🎉 She won a gift certificate from Rooney’s Food Truck—what a wonderful prize!

📚 A Friendly but Important Reminder About Donations 💙

We are incredibly grateful for the generosity and kindness our community shows toward the library. We truly appreciate everyone who thinks of us when they have items they would like to donate.

However, we need to clarify what types of donations our library is able to accept.

We welcome:
🥫 Non-perishable food items
🧼 New & unopened hygiene products
📚 Book donations in good condition

Please do NOT leave clothing, shoes, toys, household items, or other miscellaneous items at the library. Unfortunately, we are not equipped to accept, store, or distribute these types of donations.

We also ask that nothing be left in the walkways, entrances, or outside of our designated donation areas. Items left in these areas can create a hazard for our patrons, staff, and anyone using the library, and we want to make sure our building remains safe and accessible for everyone.

For clothing, shoes, toys, and other household items, please consider taking them to a local church, thrift store, or other community organization that accepts these types of donations. There are wonderful organizations in our community that are better equipped to put these items to good use.

Please be aware that items left at the library that we are unable to accept will unfortunately have to be disposed of. We simply do not have the space, resources, or facilities to properly handle these types of donations.

We are including a few comparison photos to help show what our donation shelves are intended to look like versus items that are not appropriate for our library donation area.

💙 We appreciate your generosity and want your donations to make the greatest impact possible. Thank you for helping us keep our library safe, accessible, and welcoming for everyone! 📖
