๐ Confident Teammates Are Confident Kids.
Youth sports are about so much more than learning how to play a game. For young kids, theyโre an opportunity to discover who they are and what theyโre capable of. ๐
Research shows that participating in youth sports can help build self-esteem, confidence, and resilience. All skills that can benefit kids well beyond the playing years.
And sometimes, those lessons happen in the little moments:
๐ช Finding strength they didnโt know they had
๐ Trying again after making a mistake
๐ Learning to celebrate a teammate
๐ง Staying calm when things donโt go their way
๐ค Finding a team where they feel like they belong
As parents, it can be easy to focus on the score, the skills, or whether our child is โgoodโ at a sport. But some of the most important benefits arenโt measured on a scoreboard.
At the Y, we want kids to leave the court or field not only as better athletes, but as more confident, resilient kids who believe in themselves.
Because at the end of the day, they donโt just find a sport. They find themselves. ๐
