Get ready to fill your passport! Not a passport to other countries, but to all of the libraries in Onondaga County. Introducing OCPL: The Passport. This initiative has two goals: explore all of the public libraries in Onondaga County and collect their unique trading cards.

Visit any OCPL library to pick up your passport tracker and to get that library’s passport sticker and trading card featuring fun facts. Then, visit as many OCPL libraries as you can to receive more stickers and trading cards! Be on the lookout for bonus trading cards at outreach events. Collect 30 library stickers to earn a prize, like LPL patron Jude Nash. He stopped by the LPL to get his final stamp after making all the stops in two days. Congratulations, Jude!

As people settle into their fall routines, the Liverpool Public Library has events for everyone. Here’s some of what’s happening this week:

🎭 From Page to Stage: Come From Away
Monday, Sept. 14 • 4:30 p.m.
Join us as Syracuse Stage theater artists provide a sneak peek into the production and distribute coupons for discount tickets. Set to rousing, rowdy, and rough-hewn folk songs, "Come From Away" is the Tony Award-winning true story of human decency, a triumphant and inspiring tribute to an unforgettable moment in history, and a one-of-a-kind musical that proves “no man is an island, but an island makes a man.”

💻 Girls Who Code Club: Fall Sessions
Tuesday, Sept. 15 • 6 p.m.
By promoting values like bravery, sisterhood, and activism, Girls Who Code prepares girls to become leaders in male-dominated tech fields. Join the LPL GWC Club to learn block coding with a community of kids just like you - we'll do code alongs, play fun activities, and make friends! Regular attendance is highly encouraged to build on skills from previous sessions.
Registration required. Register at LPL.ORG/EVENTS. For girls (and others!) in grades 3-5. Laptops provided. Participants will be registered as club members through the official Girls Who Code portal at the first meeting. Club members can even get swag!

📄 Notary Services
Friday, Sept. 18 • 2 - 4 p.m.
The Onondaga County Clerk's office is pleased to offer their notary services to the Liverpool community. Deputy County Clerk Eric Wright is a NYS Notary Public and will be available to notarize documents and answer questions.
Registration required. Register at LPL.ORG/EVENTS.

🗓 You can find a full listing of events at LPL.ORG/EVENTS.

🦖📚 And that’s a wrap on “Unearth a Story”! 🦕

Our Summer Reading Program may be extinct, but it was absolutely dino-mite! ☀️
From Camp Liverpool outings and story times on the road to creative classes and reading challenges, we had a roar-some summer with all of you!
And those “prehistoric” pins, “Mesolithic” magnets, and “Triassic” trading cards? You all really dug them! ⛏️🦖
A BIG thank-you to our community sponsors for helping make it all possible:
🦴 Flamingo Bowl
🦴Golden Bee Bookshop
🦴Literacy Coalition of Onondaga County
🦴SFCU
🦴 Sky Zone
🦴 Skate N Place
🦴 Sugar Blossom Cake Shop
Check out what’s roaring onto our fall calendar at LPL.ORG/EVENTS!

Be prepared! Learn how to prepare for and respond to both natural and man-made disasters on Monday, Sept. 14 from 6 - 8 p.m.

With severe weather events becoming more frequent and extreme, New Yorkers must be prepared for disasters. The NY Citizen Preparedness Training Program teaches residents to have the tools and resources to prepare for any type of disaster. Participants will be advised on how to properly prepare for disaster, including developing a family emergency plan and stocking up on emergency supplies. Each family who attends will receive one preparedness kit.
