I had the privilege of attending a recent professional development day for LVJUSD counselors, teachers, case workers, and other vital team members. The focus? Learning how to more effectively assess and support students who may need extra help to thrive.

It was super interesting and also encouraging to witness the level of care, expertise, and collaboration that our district invests in. We believe that *every* student deserves the chance to succeed, and it’s clear that our staff is committed to making that happen.

Tonight I had the privilege of attending the Teacher Appreciation event right before the Livermore Varsity Men’s Volleyball game.

It was moving to see students honoring their favorite teachers—presenting them with custom shirts and expressing just how much these educators have meant in their lives. Several students shared that their teachers are a big reason for their success and that they feel more prepared for life because of their influence.

Grateful for the dedication and heart our teachers bring to their classrooms every day.

Had a fantastic time at the annual Livermore Management Association Awards Breakfast this morning! Hearing the stories behind each student and staff award was both humbling and inspiring. It’s clear that LVJUSD is filled with passionate, driven people who are shaping a bright future for our city. So proud to celebrate alongside them—this community gives me so much hope!

Spent time at Sunset Elementary this morning, where I had the privilege of reading to Ms. Wyosnick’s TK class! The students were all ears as we followed the adventures of a sneaky dog who tags along to school—learning right alongside the kids. They were so attentive!

Beyond storytime, I got a firsthand look at their engaging learning stations. These young students are using hands-on activities that build foundational skills in such creative ways. It’s inspiring to see how much they’re absorbing at such a young age!

A big thank you to Ms. Wyosnick and her parent volunteers for the invitation and for explaining how each station supports their learning. It’s clear that these students are in really great hands!

Abilities Awareness Week

Being on the School Board also has a fun side 😉: I had the privilege of joining Jackson Avenue Elementary for their annual Abilities Awareness Week—an incredible event dedicated to fostering inclusivity, understanding, and celebrating the unique abilities of every student.

I had the honor of being a guest reader sharing a story that highlight the importance of embracing differences. Throughout the week, students participated in hands-on activities that helped them experience different challenges, from playing four-square in wheelchairs to completing tasks with limited mobility.

A huge shoutout to the Jackson Avenue Elementary PTO for organizing such a meaningful week and to everyone who contributed to creating a more inclusive and compassionate school community!

Spent time today with an amazing group of high school math teachers and enthusiasts at the Math Task Force Live Lesson on Similar Triangles at Livermore High School. It was fascinating and encouraging to see educators at all levels collaborating to enhance student learning and achievement in math. It’s so great to witness the dedication and effort being put into continuously improving math instruction across the district.

Had a fantastic evening yesterday at a great Livermore Rotary Foundation event, where local teachers received grants to enhance their classrooms and teaching methods! My wife and I cheered on Annie Bauman, a dedicated history teacher at Christiansen Middle School and we celebrated these incredible educators who go above and beyond for our students. Huge thanks to Livermore Rotary for investing in our schools and supporting innovative learning!

I had a really fun time this afternoon at the Croce Elementary School Spelling Bee! These incredible students showed so much talent and determination. ‘Tis the season!
This past week, I had the privilege of attending a series of incredible music events at Livermore High School, where a bunch of talented groups and programs ushered in the holiday spirit in pretty spectacular fashion!
🔘 🎷 On Monday, parents of Livermore Music’s jazz students enjoyed a private concert in the band room, showcasing the hard work and creativity of these gifted musicians. (and their instructors!)
🔘 🎶 On Wednesday, Mr. Lodge and Mr. Smart led their choirs in an amazing performance, highlighting the talent and hard work of their choir students.
🔘 🎻 On Friday night, various orchestras and ensembles took the stage, wowing the crowd with fun renditions of holiday classics.

This town is truly blessed with this abundance of talent, all nurtured by the leadership of incredible (!) instructors. Special congratulations to LHS Instrumental Music Department’s very own Justin Enright, who was recognized as this year's “Frank Summers OutstandingJazz Educator”! 🏆🎺

Congratulations to my friend Steven Dunbar on being sworn in tonight as a Livermore City Council Member! 🎉 Steven’s dedication and hard work—knocking on thousands of doors and connecting with our community—truly paid off. It was such an honor to witness this moment and celebrate alongside him.

I believe Livermore is in great hands with someone who KNOWS city government inside and out and is committed to serving our city with passion and expertise. I can’t wait to see all that Steven will accomplish in his new role. Cheers to strong leadership and a bright future for Livermore!
