Inspection of Livermore Bridge Planned for Next Wednesday
Lane restrictions are planned from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

MADISONVILLE, Ky. (May 7, 2026) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to conduct a routine inspection of the U.S. 431 bridge (5.2-5.4 mm) in Livermore on Wednesday, May 13, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Due to the required presence of personnel and equipment on the bridge, the structure will be restricted to one lane during the inspection. Flaggers will control alternating traffic flow throughout the process.

The Livermore bridge opened to traffic in 1939 and carries approximately 5,663 vehicles per day. The structure starts and ends in McLean County, crossing over a section of Ohio County as well as the Green River and Rough River.

This week has been a difficult one for the Wells family. Janice Wells, wife of former Fire Chief Charlie Wells of the Livermore/McLean County Eastern Fire Department, passed away.

The role of a firefighter’s or fire chief’s spouse is one that often goes unseen. It means interrupted family meals, late-night calls, missed time together, and carrying the weight of worry while supporting those who answer the call to serve others. Through it all, Janice stood beside Charlie with strength, patience, and unwavering support. She was the steady presence at home and the person there after the difficult calls that could never truly be left behind.

While this week brings sadness for many, there is also comfort in knowing that Janice and Charlie are reunited once again in the presence of our Lord and Savior.

Please keep the Wells family in your thoughts and prayers during this time.

The National Weather Service dispatched a survey team to Mclean County, which determined that an EF-1 tornado had indeed touched down in McLean County and in areas just north,west and east of Livermore's city limits. We are thankful that no injuries were reported and acknowledge the damage, grateful it was not more extensive! Tonight we get much needed rain with some thunder. Rest tonight McLean Co!

I would like to take this opportunity to express sincere gratitude to the firefighters at Livermore/Eastern Fire who responded this morning to clear every road and remove fallen trees within the city and county limits. Most if not all of them did not get home till after 5 AM and then turned around and went straight into work. That is love and dedication to our city and county and most of all to the people!. THANK YOU!!
