The City of Live Oak extends our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Veronica Garcia and the Northeast Lakeview College staff and students for hosting such a meaningful and memorable September 11 Remembrance Ceremony.

We especially recognize Kim Sistruck, Secretary of the Student Veterans of America student organization, for her service to our nation and for delivering the opening words during the ceremony. We also thank Jonathan Offret, a Pre-Nursing student at Northeast Lakeview College, for his moving performance of the National Anthem.

Dr. Garcia and Mayor Mary M. Dennis placed a floral arrangement in honor and remembrance of the lives lost on September 11, 2001. The College also recognized Assistant Fire Chief Rafael Luna as its 2026 First Responder Award recipient, honoring his outstanding 17-years of service and commitment to keeping the Northeast Lakeview College community safe.

The City of Live Oak is grateful to Dr. Garcia, the NLC staff and students, City administrators, Councilman Ed Cimics, firefighters, EMTs, police officers, and first responders from surrounding communities who came together today to show their respect and support on this important day of remembrance.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.
