This week, the Live Oak Police Department, alongside members of LOCAP, hosted the 2026 Junior Police Academy. Throughout the program, cadets gained valuable insight into a variety of law enforcement and public safety topics, including Telecommunications, K9 operations, Fire safety, Bullying and Internet Safety, Drugs and Peer Pressure, Impaired Driving, SWAT operations, and the importance of being a responsible citizen.

The Cadets enjoyed hands-on demonstrations featuring less-lethal tools and fire safety practices, providing a firsthand look at the critical work performed by police officers, firefighters, and other first responders each day.

Each participant received a graduation certificate during the formal graduation ceremony held at Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union.

A special thank you to the officers, firefighters, LOCAP, volunteers, and instructors who generously shared their time and expertise to make this year's Junior Police Academy both educational and memorable. Your dedication helped inspire and equip the next generation of community leaders.

What a fantastic day at Junior Fishing Day!

A heartfelt thank you to the Live Oak Parks and Recreation Commission, Texas Parks and Wildlife, and the Kiwanis Club for helping make this year's event such a memorable experience for our young anglers and their families.

Congratulations to Landon Stahlnecker, one of the youngest anglers on the shoreline, who reeled in the largest catch of the day weighing in at 3 lbs. 9 oz! 2nd Place went to Jaxon Newberry with a 3.5 lbs. and 3rd Place was Paisley Newberry at 2.05 lbs. They will each have fish tales to share all summer long.

We also extend our appreciation to all the parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and family members who came out to support the kids and make the day extra special. Seeing families enjoy the outdoors together is what community events like this are all about.

Thank you to everyone who helped create another great Junior Fishing Day in Live Oak!
